Nothing as fabulous looking as the rides above, just our 11km park play trip.

Rode with the Boy to drop him at the grandparents', the long slow way by path. 12.5km for him, 25km for me with the return trip.

My ride was good today. I rode the trike from Reefton up the Woods Point Rd and then turned off to slowly make my way up Lake Mountain. I feel like I am starting to get the hang of cornering the trike at speed, although some extra practice would not be unwelcome. Plenty of roadies out today - I probably saw more bikes than cars out there. Many of them passed me whilst I was climbing, none passed on the descents. Such is the way of the trike. If anyone is looking for a place to ride in the hills without too many cars, early mornings during the week in the Yarra Ranges seems to fit the bill.

It was a bit chilly on the mountain, my toes and face felt the worst of it. No mask but you would think the explorer socks would do a better job.

My recreational ride was like meeting up with an old friend. Today I took the trike to the Dandenongs to test out my climbing legs, although I really just wanted to hammer some corners. The 1:20, Sherbrooke Rd, Devils Elbow and Inverness climbs all got a look in and were probably easier than how I remembered them. The Wall was not climbed due to a sign at the bottom which claimed the road was closed due to an "incident". On the downhill sections I railed a few corners nicely and a few others I wimped out on, but got down safely every time, most importantly. Plenty of cars around but no hassles.

A nice clear view of the city, despite the seasonal burning off:

Beautiful photo, Matt.

After my last ride a week ago, i discovered 4 broken spokes.
Strange that every bike I own, after the first couple of months riding, I am having the rear wheel, completely respoked with the strongest spokes possible. I think it may have something to do with the rider's weight of over 130kg. No.. I couldn't.. could it. :D

Anyway, today was the first ride after a major bit of bike service, new clusters and chain, as well as, respoked rear wheel.

The bike worked beautifully.

or was it, that the weather was magnificent. Judge for yourselves.

Mine was SENSATIONAL !!!
Set off from the zoo, to do the Capitol trail -Yarra trail. Get to the Gardiners ck trail and thought, hmm, never been down there before. So turn left it is. What a lovely part of the world to ride in, you can tell that there is money poured into infrastructure on this side if town. Did some laps on the Velo', so cool, a few strange looks as I was on the MTB.... lol. The highlights were, cars giving way to ME at crossings and the lights that change to green as you approach them.... soooo cool. Got to Waverley rd and my butt said its time to turn back. Cruised on back to the city, commuters races are still a thing, get to Southbank, Garmin goes flat, Oh well, coffee time !!! Made it back to the zoo, in pretty ordinary shape, but still had a blast

Cheers

15km walk/hike yesterday, so thought a ride today would help my slightly sore hips.

Heading out on shared path towards Craigieburn, I met H going the opposite way. She turned and joined me, and it made my 40km ride a pleasant social outing :D

In a word, fantastic. Perfect riding weather set the scene for today's recreational trike ride around the Otways and GOR. With an early start from Anglesea I got the hard climbing out of the way early as I roamed inland into the forest.

Image

It soon flattened out and flowed into some fun gravel road descents.
Image

I returned to the GOR at Aireys Inlet via the Bambra Road, which was shrouded in smoke but awesomely fast. Fun fact: Bambra is an Aboriginal word for mushroom, of which there were plenty around along with the beautiful flowering heath. From Aireys Inlet I took a quick spin up the GOR to Lorne before returning along the very same road to Anglesea. Some of the corners along here are very long sweeping curves. I have little trouble going as fast I can around the left handers but the right handers still need a lot more practice to reach the same level of ability. No idea why one side is better than the other but my first guess would be some kind of localised brain damage.

Bit shy of 24km on foot, walking with Marti as a training outing.
Stuffed myself silly with gnocchi, pasta, foccacia, prosecco and cannolo at the cheese factory's festival.
Now it's time for a beer....

Another nice day.

While riding through Seaworld's carpark, I heard their helicopter approaching, so I snapped it while it came into land.
