Auto-login not working (update: now fixed)

Postby Ben Sturmfels » Sat 23 Jun 2007, 12:42 pm

As some have mentioned, auto-login doesn't seem to be working correctly. Hopefully we'll have this fixed soon.

Sorry to put the dampner on things but I don't think it is accepting new Avatars either. :(

Its working fine for me, I personally think those using something like IE should migrate to firefox and feel the auto login love like I do, Mine hasnt missed a beat before or after the upgrade.

Just my ramblings, Eddie

Yep, using firefox here. Autologin is broken. We're talking about a function of the website, not the browser, so the browser being used is irrelevant.

I'm just assuming if the server side is playing up, my browser (cookie/settings) must be delivering the goods, cos seriously, I haven't had to login to this forum since the day I joined.

all the "posts since last visit" etc seem normal.

Delete your old cookies for bv.com.au

I just did that, then close your browser, then log in again and you should be right.

Change of server means change of cookie signature. Which means no insta-login :)

interesting

knowing cookies and milk as i do, that doesn't seem to make a lot of sense, but i tried it all the same. still no autologin, although deleting the cookies did cause new, exciting and previously unseen cookies to be stored in my browser.

i really couldnt care less, i guess. logging in isn't so hard, just laziness really :)

New avatars can now be added. Still no luck with auto-login.

Hi Ben

seeing these messages a bit now:

Warning: Cannot modify header information - headers already sent by (output started at /var/www/vhosts/bv.com.au/httpdocs/forums/index.php:4) in /var/www/vhosts/bv.com.au/httpdocs/forums/includes/page_header.php on line 480

Looks like your attempt to inject cookie info into the headers isn't working :(

Thanks to those who pointed out the warning messages they were seeing.

The messages turned out to be a symptom of the problem behind auto-login not working. We'd previously had these warnings disabled, making tracking down the problem a bit tricky!

Auto-login is now working. :)

I am having some issues with auto-login (and login in general) now, for the first time since the change-over :?
