Strava have announced that the KOM etc segments will no longer be available on their free section of the app and if you want to know your position on the leader boards you now have to pay.
So much whining like dodgy diffs (these used to be a component of a rear wheel drive car and early models tended to get a bit noisy when worn) by some riders who do not mind spending heaps of money on their bikes but expect everything else to be given to them for free.
Strava have announced that they are a business and need to be paid for the services that they provide which seems quite reasonable to me.
Anyway I read elsewhere that those dreaded ebike riders have infiltrated strava and have set some cracking times on the segments.

You can still see the leaderboard / top 10
And also get your position.
But that's where it ends. Third party apps won't get the leaderboard at all via the API.
I'm happy to pay for it, I get a lot of use out of Strava, and for the cost of a cup of coffee every 2nd week, it's a very small burden.

It all seems reasonable to me. Equally so with Cycling Tips which have hitherto provided a helpful and useful service at no tangible cost.
Stay fixed. Keeping a cool head.

The most contentious bit is breakage of 3rd part apps. I know quite a few that use Veloviewer, essentially that's going to be pretty useless now.

Strava update going bad?
They usually do them around this time, middle of the US night.

I see they have rolled out local legend to Melbourne.
Can't see it on the web page, but visible on the app. Mate got one today for some obscure segment.

There's a couple that I can find on Kew Boulie.
I am third on one of those. The leader has 120 efforts in 90 days. I have 90 in 90.
Still a fair way behind.

That's impressive either way. Beach Rd, I have no chance...
