A 55-year-old man has died in hospital after he was found unconscious near his bicycle in regional Victoria.

A man has died in hospital after he was found unconscious near his bicycle on a road in regional Victoria.

A passing motorist Fogartys Gap Road found the Maldon cyclist, 55, about 11.20pm on Sunday at Fogartys Gap Rd in Ravenswood South, near Bendigo.

Police believe he was involved in a crash and have called for witnesses.

The man was flown to hospital in a critical condition and he died on Wednesday.
