Hi Fixie, Thanks for going to the session and keeping us up to date :)

In the meantime I guess the cyclists will find their own way through the area. At the moment the Strava Global Heatmap shows majority traffic on Whitehorse Road with only a small proportion zig-zagging through the back streets.

Soooo... the other post reminded me to update this.

Latest update about the trail - it appears that something is happening linking the path that ends at Linsley Street in Box Hill to behind Box Hill High. Unfortunately it appears to be happening in slow motion.

So in summary... as far as I know, we now have

Ringwood Station to a short way down Albert Street
Mitcham Angling Club -> Mitcham Station -> Rooks Road -> behind Nunawading Home HQ
Laburnum Station -> Box Hill High via underpass
construction from Box Hill High -> Linsley Street
Linsley street -> Station Street

Fun!

Not sure of the final plan or how it is currently proceeding, but I thought that there was to be a link from the path behind Box Hill High to the other side of the railway line and out into Barcelona St via an enlargement of the existing pedestrian bridge through the cemetry.
Stay fixed. Keeping a cool head.

On Sunday 4th Jan 2015 I went out exploring to see how much of this trail was constructed & rideable. The short answer is - not much! You can see the detail of exactly where I went here. The bit from Mitcham to Nunawading is great - but that's about it. Zig-zagged my way home through the back streets.

There's a bridge there behind the cricket nets, but it's got fences on both ends of it. Figured it was just some kind service access.

Basically the elements that were delivered as part of the grade separations at Rooks and Mitcham Roads projects have been completed.
The short section just west of Ringwood Rd approaching the Station has also been done. These add up to approx 20-25% of Box Hill to Ringwood
... riding...

Do you do the same loop or just one half of it back & forth?

Was on the metal sardine can yesterday and noticed that there's been progress on the trail from Box Hill High School heading inbound.

Still a long way to go and if they continue to progress at the existing rate, we might have something in time for Christmas.

Thanks all for the updates, it's a pity it's going so slowly! By the time Mr2 is on a pedal bike and riding confidently we may have a grade separation at Blackburn road, and a trail going all the way through???
Still a cyclist, albeit one who never rides any more....

And now for some concrete...
They've had the reo layed for about a week, so was good to see several cement trucks lined up this morning with a pump ready to go.
