Part of me wants to leave one at the top of the one in twenty.... Anyone want to dink me home afterwards?

You certainly wouldn't want to risk the ride back down again!

I thought leaning them against other people's front fences was bad enough (refer 6:30am post):

Here's a fairly original use of oBikes:

Probably not what the oBikes company had in mind for its use, though.

I'm surprised that's all it took to stop the car... Those O bikes must be tough!

Those old RAV4s weren't exactly known for their massive 4WDing capability...

This part of the article was hilarious:
“When we remove oBikes, City of Melbourne does not become the owner so we cannot give the oBikes to a third party, such as a charity

So apparently the council are OK with crushing bikes that don't belong to them, but not OK with donating those bikes to charities. Incredibly messed-up logic, in my opinion.

An interesting 5 minute clip on ABC’s 7:30 tonight.

Apart from the normal stuff regarding dockless share bikes being dumped or abandoned (read vandalised), there’s much content regarding privacy concerns and the new dockless bikes about to be launched in Sydney.

I've seen a few of the oBikes around Reservoir lately. Outside the station, outside Coles, near the pool, even a couple in the suburban streets. I thought they'd really only be around the CBD and inner 'burbs.

I spied one along Springvale Rd in Forest Hill yesterday.

I'd say that it's a long way from home, but the holding yard for them is only a few km away in Nunawading....

There's quite a few scatted around Kew. When I commented on this on facebook people mentioned seeing lots in Ringwood even. Maybe it makes sense - unlike the docked bikes, they actually can just hang around the suburbs which have no other bike share service.

I saw one parked neatly against a bike hoop in Berwick recently.
Stay fixed. Keeping a cool head.

The other night at the corner of Brunswick and Holden Streets, I saw one going for a trip in the back of a car.

One simple measure to help prevent the misuse of Obikes might be to have a locking mechanism that needs to be enabled before users can scan off. I suspect a lot of the bikes that end up in waterways or trees have been left unlocked by the last paying user and then taken for a joyride by idiots.
