women's beach rd cycling group

Postby ocelot91 » Mon 28 Dec 2009, 9:09 pm

Hi,

Are there any women's cycling groups that go down Beach Rd, starting anywhere in the St Kilda to Brighton stretch?

Has Pink Inc dissolved or do they still ride? If they are around they would be a suitable group to join.
Stay fixed. Keeping a cool head.

Call Kennedy's and ask for Bridget - she will give you the answer to the question (not being coy, just don't know the answer myself)

OK - as has just been pointed out to me, Kennedy's isn't there anymore.... BUT the Kennedy's website still exists - so I would give them a call on the new number and explain why. (Unfortunately, the actual Pink Inc page off Kennedy's appears to have gone...)

Hi,
I'm looking for ladies to ride with on Beach Road too.
I can ride any time on Wednesdays and also on the weekend.
Let me know if you find any groups.
I've been searching, so I'll post a reply if I come up with anything.

A new group has been set up through bayside bike hub http://bayside.bikehub.com.au/Home/News/tabid/560/Default.aspx I am planning on going to the first Monday ride 'cos I have a rare day off :)
they have Sat rides too and are planning some info sessions on Wed evenings specifically for women
Hope that helps

Just been updated:

Saturday 7.00am - mixed group, young, older, male, female. Strong pace - Neil/Paul etc, slow - me. Very small numbers and usually splits into two groups around clocktower.
Monday 9.30am - BRR for women with Michelle (apparently I can come if I behave and keep out of the way).
Wednesday 11.30 - Beach path ride for women with Emma.

Vested interest declared - I live there.
I think I'll stay six for ever and ever.

Hi

I frequently cycle up the Beach Rd. Send me a private message if you are interested in riding sometime.

this is my first post on the bv board so hi!!

i thought i'd bump this thread up again as i ride beach road on the weekends and it'd be nice to ride with some other girls.

actually, i wouldn't mind finding someone to ride with who's in the northern suburbs as i'm in northcote. i was riding with a male friend but an accident (hit a car riding home), a trip overseas and sickness has kept me off the bike for nearly two months now. i really want to get back into it but he and i are having problems matching schedules.

so, anyone in the northern suburbs?

Hi wordnerd,
welcome to the forums :)
check out the plan a ride thread, there are a few people around your area I think. But there are several rides that are regular over that side of town (not necessarily right on your doorstep but perhaps close enough)
Oh and if you are looking for social riding try the BBC ride which is on the last Sat of the month, details are in the first post.
Apart from that happy riding :)

edit; should note I'm Sth east

I'm in Reservoir, wordnerd, so PM me if you like re: riding sometime. I tend to have to ride with my partner's friends (all guys) due to lack of women to ride with (don't know many, live in different areas, scheduling differences... yada yada) so I can understand your situation. This usually makes me the 'slowest'... sigh... but I've learned to love the chase! :D
