Is anybody Going to the Great Vic?

Postby speedhump » Fri 16 Nov 2012, 3:24 pm

Hey is anybody going to the Great Vic this year? Is it still going ahead? Very quiet topic, normally gets busy as the event draws near. Is there any excitement brewing for the Route?

Yeah I did see that, still not many, and I am generally questioning how quiet the topic is...

I'm going. Though I haven't added my name to the list. :)

This time next week I should have my tent set up at Lakes Entrance and be full of nervous energy. Will be heading up on the bus on Friday. Bags are packed, bike serviced and I think that I'm about as ready as I can be at this stage.

First time for me and unsure of just how well I am going to cope. My training didn't go to schedule. Knees started to complain so had to give them a bit of a rest and then realised I needed to get a bike fit done. The change to seat height was dramatic and I found I had to relearn how to get onto my bike

This year is my 4th in a row so there is less need for discussion this year. I'll be up there on Friday via the long term car park in Phillip Island.

You will be right! So long as you enjoy yourself and take it easy, go at your own pace. There will be others going as fast or slow as you so just stick with them. If you are now bike fitted, you should have less soreness plus the body tends to adapt after a day or two. Make sure you hydrate and wear sunscreen. Good Luck!

Been too busy to even think about it! Excitement is starting to build now though...

I think the quiteness in this forum has been matched by lack of promotion on Facebook and the BV website of the event too. Haven't heard much at all...

I check the forum daily, but don't post unless something is really bugging me.

I'm basically packed and ready. Bike is good.

My big drama is shoes. I had a rough time with sore feet when I did the Lake Mountain climb a couple of weeks ago. So I went and got some Bont shoes. I've been having all kinds of drama getting them to fit nicely. Now I don't know whether to simply use my old, not-quite-comfortable shoes, or my new not quite comfortable shoes.

I can cope with the old ones, but it could get painful over the long term.

The new ones are very very stiff, and I don't think I've got the fit right. But I can not tell.
Stop sign? Fixie don’t care.

In two days time I will be setup at Lakes Entrance and a beer in my hand somewhere.

Training has been crap and will be real slow but still looking very forward to the ride and camping.

I'm going but hadn't got around to putting myself on the list. Forum has been very quiet about the ride this year. My son is taking me to Lakes tomorrow. All the best, Tom
