Wak, 12:46 am is too late notice to advise you are going to do RRR. If only you had posted up earlier, I would have left home at 5:45 am to ride with you. Really I would have.
Really.

By nominating so late you can just stay up, have another coffee then roll up to Ringwood. Who needs sleep ??

Well, I do actually. One of these days ...

Well I had to kick Lian out of bed, make sure she didn't sneak back, get her rolling on time...almost , only to see the RRRa leaving 30sec early - to shake us off their tails!

Managed to catch up only to have Ian punish me for the rest of my retro ride (the bike not me).

Great day, great company, love the cafe....I could get used to this!

WET.
Started the morning with just damp patches on the road. As it got lighter the dark clouds threatened, with some lightning over the horizon. Then the sun came out for a few minutes, before the clouds closed in again. By Wantirna the clouds had closed in the lightning was closer than comfortable, and the rain was bucketing down.
Just three of us at the clock tower this morning, Toyopet, Atham, and myself. We set off on the wet roads to be greeted by the bridge works on Wantirna Rd. which reduce the road to a single lane controlled by traffic lights for a few hundred metres. With just three of us, we cruised the route with sporadic periods of rain, alternating with feeling sticky from the relatively warm temperature with rain gear on. Ian caught up with us about half way between the Oban Rd. turn and Mitcham Rd. We all enjoyed the coffee and food at the Dark Horse where much of the discussion centred around the problems faced by bacon addicts, and the merits of bacon patches to assist people in coping with their withdrawal symptons  ;)
With the clouds threatening again I turned for home and the rain started again just before Jells Park, and fell steadily for the last half of my ride home.
Arrived home soaked but smiling,

I was all ready to go and was just walking down the hallway towards the garage when there was a brilliant flash of light at the same time as a deafening bang shook the house. Thinking that was only a few houses away, I figured I'd wait just a little while.
Consequently I left late and had to chase down the rest of the group.

We have decided to do a Cup Day RRR with a slightly later start time, as the Dark Horse on Brit is open for business.
If you haven't done an RRR before, this is an ideal opportunity, especially for those who have to ride a distance to get there.
