Thanks. I'm not 100 % committed after yesterday. I learnt a lot.
I feel under prepared even with a good road base as this adds another dimension to being on the bike.
If Forrest is as or more technical than the competition trail I'll need a lot more time than what I've given myself up to next week.
I'm extremely motivated to ride in some mtb events but I'd like to give myself a chance to NOT make it an all day event ;-)
See how I feel up to Wednesday when it's cut off time for entries.
Thanks for all your info

If you're not confident about the 100km, why not do the 50km.
It's still a fun day out on some great trails

you can enter on day.

50k is achievable for most riders - just don't follow fast guys on first 10k climb.

if you want to undergo a spiritual journey and get closer to the mtb gods then do 100k, 100k on dirt requires a solid base, yes roadie ks good, however the ever changing terrain of mtb plus the whole body battering you get from navigating single track ... well I reckon dirt ks are key.

at the least you come out of event with impetus to really nail some training and improve in all areas of mtb.

I go to lysty specifically to ride the firetrails, not a single track kind of person :)
Parking off the side of wellington road is good if you are coming from the FTG area, saves a bit of driving, or you can park at the top of the commonwealth games track, or at the main entrance...

Thanks 101.
Nightfall, have you done the Odyssey 100 ?
I felt good at lysterfield on Saturday even though only did 40kms.
Think I'll just give it a crack and hope for the best

I reckon do it..... the course is a cloverleaf, so if it's disastrously bad, you can bail when you pass back through the start finish area.

Of course, don't fixate on that possibility too much... or you might actually bail :P

Nope.. I'd need to increase my singletrack confidence first.. not a fan of falling off my bike.

I've entered the 100 km ride. I emailed to ask for entry on the day but highly preferred to enter online by tomorrow, so I did :|

Forecast looks like it will be a good day for racing. A bit warmer than I would like personally, but at least it's not 30 like Sunday.

I assume you've done long rides before on the road and have a solid nutrition plan figured out?
