Great report!

For added fun we had to dodge a snake on the final sector of gravel!

Thanks for the ride report Toyopet!
Sounds like it was a very good day spent on the bike.
I'm now doubly sorry that I could not take part, maybe another time. :D

^ Your absence was noted and discussed  .
The consensus was that none of us would wish to do this (somewhat gruelling) Strathbogie ride, only a week after doing a 24-hour Oppy Ride.
So we bow to your fortitude and stamina of a week ago :P .

Thanks Nick for the amazing amount of work you have done organising, and following up on 'The Slider'. Your help and guidance on the day following your own mechanical, was also much appreciated. I found the ride very hard, but I am glad I took part. Thank you also to the other, stronger, riders who treated me as an equal, and were quietly keeping an eye on me without intruding on my personal struggles.
Use the paths......a good route.

I followed this ride with great interest and was sorry to miss it due to a clash with a tour. If you run it again I'll be there as it's a part of Vic I've barely ventured into. Love winding, quiet gravel roads and like your artistic linkage too. 8-)

Thanks for the ride report NixTrader.
It's a great part of the world to ride a bike. :D
Nice to meet you Bikes 11. I didn't realise we had another forumite on the ride.

Apologies to Arthur Streeton but I thought I could add some 'colour' to the scene. Heather yelled this to me as she descended one the gravel roads in a blur.

Hi folks, I've received a few enquires about another Strathbogie Slider this year.

My current plan is a weekend of rides in Strathbogies with a few different ride options. I've found a few more good roads and some low traffic linking roads - so it's basically choose your own gravel adventure.
- from 50km, less steep climbs and passing a few local wineries that friends, partners and less experienced riders might be interested in doing,
- to 200km - basically slider route from last year with additions at start and end so the ride now starts and finishes at Euroa.
- Plus various options in between
- All ride option legs (except easy 50km) will intersect at Ruffy or Strathbogie hamlets - riders can meetup there and get water/food and change their plans mid-route depending on how they are going.

All rides start and finish at Euroa - so no train return link this time, that wasn't really worth the hassle. Riders can come for 1 day and smash themselves, or stay overnight and split the route into 2 easier rides over 2 days. Still same basis as last year - no cost / self-supported.

Currently looking at weekend of 19-20 March 2016, if you want to mark the dates in your diaries.

Here is link to last year's ride to give you some idea of the terrain.

I've got new wheels on the CX, but might try to get better gearing for this one.

Sorry Heather and Claude anyone else who was interested.

Unfortunately I've had to can this - or I can't ride it to be more specific. I've had a back problem for a few months that I've been trying to get on top off. Saw Doc again and he's said to stop riding and take it very easy for a month or so.

But if anyone has made plans and still wants to ride Strathbogies on that weekend, email me, and let me know what sort of ride you want and I'll email you suggested route details. (nixtrader AT yahoo DOT com DOT au). I'm pissed this has happened, apologies for any inconvenience.

If a few people still want to ride I can still come and drive support.
