Glad I found this thread - couldn't find the date for The Slog on their email or web site - maybe I just didn't look hard enough :?

Does anyone want a free SLOG ticket? (It's for the 150 km, but certainly there'd be no problem with using it for a shorter distance also!) Please PM.

What a great day!
Loved the fact there were so many forumers there.
Loved the fact that Kaz reminded me this was our Seventh Slog.
Loved the sunny weather but maybe not the wind.
Loved the usual high standard of organisation and ride support.

Thanks to all who helped make it a great day, and especially to atham for helping me through the last 20k's of headwind.
150km's well done.
Sanity. It's overrated.

On a day when the temperature in Melbourne hit 35C the heat radiating up from the black asphalt was fierce. At the finish one of the volunteers told me that a lot of people succumbed to heat exhaustion and caught the sag wagon home.

I was impressed with the number of safety cars handing out water on the route. I think I drank about 10 litres

This has to be the best one-day recreational ride in Melbourne.
Magnificent route & scenery, support cars about every 25-30 km with water, fruit, muesli bars and supportive volunteers. Cars constantly driving along assisting when required, and all for a worthwhile cause. Thanks to those I rode with, it was tough but very enjoyable. And huge thanks to the organisers & volunteers. :D
I'm not bossy, I just have better ideas!

Amen to that. Wonderful day out.

150km post-ride ice cream. #theslog

Only drawback is that 'tween Droon and Goon the p-platers doth hoon, and as that's the hottest, latest section of the ride where my tolerance is lowest, I really felt like giving them something back when the fourth in a row stuck the arm out the window to give me a scare as they pass with two fifths of stuff-all clearance.

I like the photo.
I hope the grubby leg in it is not the owner of the resplendent bmc. Oh the shame.
