Mrs B gets clearance to start riding again after the birth of bubs #2 on the 1stof May and we were thinking of what to do and whether we should get both kids looked after by nanna. This could be a great idea. I could potentially also tow bubs #1 in the chariot too as I'm sure Mrs B won't be flying after about 4 months off the bike.

Realised I have something on in Geelong at 2 PM.... so not quite the right timing for 100 km starting at 9, even if travelling alone by car to and from Ballarat!

Do any of the ride options circle lake Wendouree? Considering a family bike ride this may suit all involved?

The 50 and 100km rides start at Pleasant Street School, which is right on Lake Wendouree.

The lake is 6km around - easily doable as a family pootle before or after a longer ride. Or you could throw down a couple of laps if you need some extra miles to reach a milestone... it's been done before [1].

Actually, looking at the routes that Baudman linked - the 100km route finishes with a half-lap of the lake.

The 25km route isn't actually in Ballarat... it's out of town where the longer rides go to.

[1] riding back into town with 153km showing on the GPS... I wasn't going to miss the hundred mile mark by that much!

You certainly won't be the latest entry... I entered at the finish line the year that I accidentally rode the 50km with Hannah on the cargo bike.

We were just going to watch the start... then we were just going to ride with the group for a few blocks... then we were just going to ride until she got sick of it... then we made it home.

She was more than happy doing 50km of rail trail on the back of my singlespeed last weekend, so I reckon we're gunning for 75... or maybe even the full 100km tomorrow. Conditions apply.

See you there :-)

who will probably stand at the corner of Webster Street and Wendouree Parade for a few minutes before the ride, in the traditional manner for meeting up with random forummers. I'll be the one on a burgundy Long Haul Trucker with a blonde 3 year old suspended over the rear wheel.

:-(

Not sure what ride we - or I - will be doing if it's crap weather as predicted.

After such a glorious week...

bom is only showing chance of some very light showers at this stage.
I'm doing 25km ride with my wife and daughter...then they're jumping in the car and I'm then riding to Woodend which adds another 70km and some nice hills into the legs :)
