I saw the Hip play here in Melbourne back in the early 90s. It was a great show.

Getting ready to leave the house for the childcare drop off, the Boy, grinning, starts singing 'Round, round.... WooooOOOOOoooooOOOOOO.... OOOOOOOOO! Mommy, can we listen to music in the car?'.

I immediately knew the song he was after; we had the Good morning, Vietnam soundtrack on the other day. We head out, I skip to the song.

From the back seat -' I like this Beatles song! '

' Beach Boys, honey, Beach Boys song.'

Later, Little Surfer Girl comes on and he chirps 'It's like the wooooo wooooo song!'.

RIP Ray Sawyer – the memorable eye patch-wearing member of Dr Hook. I wasn’t a big fan but have fond memories circa ’77 riding my bike on the dirt roads of Eden Park with one of my best childhood friends for what seemed to be an entire weekend, singing On the Cover of the Rolling Stone. No recollections as to why we were singing that particular song (as good as it was) several years after its release but I do remember it being a fun time :)

Not sure about 'Hi-Fidelity' …. but if anyone is in Ballarat for the RoadNats this weekend, and wants to see a band on Friday night (4th Jan), head to Irish Murphy's in Sturt St and see my band ScorchingTones from about 8:30-9pm.

ScorchingTones
Plenty of your faves from 80s/90/s-->NOW

Probably not best prep for Saturday's Grand Fondo  , but hey - good time guaranteed. 8-)

Saw the amazing Fat Freddy's Drop at The Forum on Friday night. A bittersweet evening after the events in Christchurch, sending love to Aotearoa.

I saw the Underground Lovers play the Corner when they launched the Weekend album. Here is one of my favourite tracks from it. Riding:

I think The Boy has been exposed to an old Triple J top 100 playlist in the car. He's taken to busting out into this song at random times on the couch, in the supermarket....

We don't play guitars

Be careful, next thing he'll be going to festivals and smuggling vodka in in yogurt drink sachets!

Tool is touring in February, tickets go on sale next week. I'm hoping they're not crazy $$$s.
