My 6yr old isn't too fussed 'bout riding a bike to school when I asked him about it earlier this morning, he alternates between walking/scooter usually, while I push the pram with my petulant 3yr old in a 5-point saftey harness (for the saftey of the wider community) . Our route to school has mostly sloping, narrow or cambered footpaths with a fair amount of peds on it at that time which makes riding bikes (slowly) really awkward. So frustrating that it's sort of frowned upon having kids use *roads to ride their bikes around. My 3yr old enjoys 'ramming' with his wishbone runbike, which doesn't go down well with strangers.
I'll take 'em out tonight on wheels to gauge their enthusiasm.
*Whenever we ride off somewhere with our 6yr old, I just tell him to hit the roads & hang in the bike lane with me riding just behind him. Me towing a Croozer trailer with my 3yr old on footpaths is just not an option most of the time. Of course we go the long way 'round to dodge busy roads & using the bikes allows such flexibility when it come to routes we can use.
Just a bike & a place to ride.
