Busier on the GCT/CCT than I expected. Maybe some new season wet weather gear being trialed.

Off for at least another six months (nooooo) and possibly more. I've been diagnosed with a chronic immune disease....and one of the complications affects my butt muscle. Here's hoping the muscle heals quickly, and I can get back on the bike next year.

:( Bummer.

But seriously, that is so lacking in goodness. Sorry to hear and hope your body decides to work better soon.

Crossed paths with an old friend on his bike while riding home. I knew he was more of a gym meathead and not so much of a cyclist, so I dropped it down a few gears and chatted over my shoulder. There I was half a length ahead, chatting and spinning away. Noticed that he was responding less and less.... and dropping back more and more.....

Turns out that it was only his second ride home ever and well... he's really not all that cardio fit (plus he's a big gear masher).

Ooops.

Dropped it down another gear or two and played nice.

For sure. A lot more riding this morning that the last time we had a solid wet AM ride (last month).

Wasn't as bad a drenching as a couple of weeks ago, but still got wet on the ride in. At least the wet weather gear (mudguards etc.) works. :)

My commute home is now in the dark. This time last year my regular ride had dyno lights. This year, I have a different regular ride and it doesn't. I'm really missing them. Hmm... checks wallet.

I also managed to get a particularly heavy shower on the ride in. Thankfully, the Racecourse Rd Flemington underpass was empty, so that's a win, but yeah - still loving my Carradice Duxback cape, although I think I need to rejuice its waterproofness (it's fine for a quick commute). There's some online options for wax wash, but I think I may see what the local horse/saddle sort of place has? It's just waxed cotton - it can't be that unique?

What a stunning morning to ride! Such a contrast from yesterday.

Notes from today's ride.
- keep to the left of the path / bike lane
- don't pass on the left
- look before you change your line
- concentrate on keeping a straight line rather than outright speed

(I wasn't involved but saw many close calls and frustrated people)
Stay dirty, my friends!

Swapped bikes to my commuter bike today, (have been riding my play bike). Thought I was protecting myself from the puncture fairy, got 4km into the ride when that sinking feeling struck. Found it was a slow leak, so thought, it's not far home, I'll ride home and swap bikes. Only got a little way up the road, when slow leak, turned into big leak  , walked home then drove in. I'll fix it tonight.
