Re: Rethink sugary drink

Do they still put fluoride in Melbourne's water? Our children were born in 1973,1975 & 1978 and we did not have soft sugary drinks regularly, only as a treat and they reached adulthood without a single cavity. As well as the sugary drinks the use of bottled non fluorided water is also a contrib...

Re: Rethink sugary drink

And here's an article on dental health implications for young children of sugary drinks (and other sticky sugary foods) From today's "The Age" http://www.theage.com.au/victoria/kids-as-young-as-18-months-needing-rotten-teeth-pulled-because-of-bad-decay-20151013-gk817r.html# My mum has bee...

Re: Ride2Work Day

No bananas under the freeway at Punt Rd. :( Lots of faces I didn't recognise in the change rooms, though. I ended up on the wrong side of the Yarra by accident so missed that venue spot, but saw from my loftier vantage point on the Norf-side that there wasn't anyone there. Mine went something like:...

Currently munching on some fruit buns at work. I went for my morning jog about an hour early to fit the ext...

Re: How was your commute today

A lovely, incident free, clear morning but chilly! Numbers seemed down on the Koonung Trail this morning. Planning on getting to two brekkies tomorrow - Box Hill Gardens and Abbotsford Convent. Might see you at the Abbotsford one. I'm planning Abbotsford Convent, Burnley Golf Course, City Square an...

Re: How was your commute today

Thanks Canuck, Vic Pde crossing at Wellington St defo the go! Just found I'm up the duff & increasingly nervy on my bike  Congratulations HollyM! Hoping you have a smooth ride ( ;) ) throughout your pregnancy. Drizzly ride this morning. Started to become a bit unpleasant just after the H...

Re: Have a safe and fun ride!

Congratulations everyone who rode! No matter which distance you did, it is a great achievement. I wanted to shout encouragement from my car at the riders on the West Gate in the afternoon on my way back into the city and home, but thought that might be taken badly, so was only shouting "You're ...

Re: Ride2Work Day

No IKEA breakfast this year???

EDIT: Is it my imagination or is the City of Melbourne's offering woeful? The only two I can find are the Bicycle Network's ones at Docklands and City Square.

Re: How was your commute today

Sheeple peds crossing against reds from tram superstops without looking for the itty bitty and extremely silent bike. Arghhh... Will be glad when Collins Street and Swanston Street and their crossing are no longer part of my route.

Re: Ride2Work Day

So we are thinking of having a ride in and breakfast on the Friday after RTW day. OK, well we'd ride anyway but perhaps someone will be riding for the first time and that will be their second or third ride. Compromise! Can I come? Always ready for a free breakfast. :P Or you could tell your manager...

Time to start planning my usual Tour de Breakfast

Hasn't been much communication sent to me about this by Bicycle Network. I will be looking at doing my version of the Tour de Breakfast as well. :P

Re: How was your commute today

My Garmin had a hissy fit last night and this morning so no log of my rides. I feel like I wasted the rides to and from work. What was the point of riding if it wasn't recorded??? :P (Just kidding) The Garmin fixed up this morning once plugged into the computer. I deleted almost a year of old rides ...

Argghh!!! What are these white, pasty things??? Oh wait, they're my legs...

First time without long leggings etc. since forever (or at least a few months) for the ride in this morning. Bracing myself for the ride home.

Re: Hit & run on Lygon st this afternoon

And yet another. This car is now believed to have been torched, with the plates removed and the VIN scratched out. That brings it to a whole new level of criminality: https://www.facebook.com/7NewsMelbourne/videos/10153697194734301/?fref=nf This same driver and car almost had a head-on with my moth...
