Re: Why are the Forums slowing down?

.... I don't need a forum that is packed with features and fun to use, I just want to read what other people are saying and contribute to the discussion occasionally. In their excuse for stopping Ride On BV/BN said " Relevance, engagement, pace and ease are being valued above timelessness and ...

Re: Why are the Forums slowing down?

............ But now I feel like we're below critical mass... ........ YES , I agree. Exactly right! A vote of thanks to Frosty for his good work. Those last login dates show just how little the BV/BN management care about the Forums. In their view we are just " nut cases on the internet "...

Re: Social Media confusion

I saw the title "Social Media Confusion" and immediately thought of BV/BN management and their decision to end the publication of Ride On magazine

Yesterday BV/BN announced the end of Ride On see here There is also further discussion about this here I would be most interested to hear what you think about this. " Given all of these variables, it should be obvious that there is little point in two riders comparing tyre pressures unless they weigh the same and are using matched tyres and rim widths on the same roads under the same conditions. As already stated, riders will gain far more information and ...

Re: Tyre Choice

The facebook post on this is a good demonstration of the internet phenomenon where people comment on articles they haven't even read ...... Half the comments were "I run 120psi in my 23mm tyres, it's good enough for the pros". YES , the scientific facts about tyre pressures have be...

Re: On her bike : Why women won't ride

My personal historic observation ( most un-scientific & nil research ) is .......... During the war years (1939-1945) women cyclists outnumbered men. During the 1950s it was a 50/50 split. As cars became more prevalent in the 1960s men began to outnumber women. In the 1970s cycling fell to a low...

Re: Man with chainsaw and dog attacks cyclist

The Age story this morning refers to Barbers Road Kalorama as the place of the attack. Cyclotaur and I rode (ie I struggled) up that very steep section to Five Ways last week! I have ridden DOWN Barbers Road a couple of times. Going UP, you would have no chance of outrunning a man on foot, ...

Winter Riding 2017

We now have a few weeks of nice autumn weather before winter arrives. What is your strategy for getting through the winter? What sorts of rides do you do in winter? What adjustments to equipment & clothing do you do? Do you have a favourite winter destination?
