Re: Great Victorian Bike Ride 2019

I doubt this year's ride will go ahead, even if the current restrictions are relaxed. Having 4,000 people close together, using the same amenities and sweating all over each other doesn't seem like a good idea. And a month later not much has changed. Now what about the Around the Bay. Some of those...

Re: Melbourne lockdown

From the Q&A on The Age: So no driving to go for a bike ride. It's arguable that you could drive, for example, to the nearest MTB trails if you intend riding MTB. The nuances are almost impossible to define or understand. No, not arguable. If you can ride your MTB locally to exercise , then you...

Re: How was your recreational ride today?

Thanks for the info Matt. I'll check it out but it can be very slippery on that side of Mount Dandenong.
The west side is completely different.

Re: How was your recreational ride today?

I just looked up Tchan track. Is it newish? I've done Barge and VW many times but never saw Tchan. It's not on my Feathertop map.
Saying that I may have done it not knowing what is was called. Is it the one with many jumps?
Did you drive to Olinda first or do you live up that way?

Re: Ministerial Runaround on M80 Upgrade and Merri Creek Path extension link

Hang on, we have a Minister for Roads and a Minister for Transport Infrastructure? So roads are not transport infrastructure or transport infrastructure is a all transport excluding roads? And bicycle paths are not roads or are they roads for bicycles? If you are not getting a response from either n...

Re: How was your recreational ride today?

My new bike - Giant Talon 3 29er XL. snip, snip... Frosty. Very nice bike. I've been thinking about a 29er, not to replace my current 26" bike, but for the trails in my backyard. How is the gearing on this bike and is the handling much different? I would get a Giant, my current bike is built o...

The Dandenongs were packed yesterday morning. More cyclists than cars.
A few police cars but they seemed to leave everyone alone.

MTB - Slime tyres

Has anyone used the self repairing Slime tyres on their mtb?
I'm not getting unusual amounts of flats, but in winter when everything is covered in mud I find repairing or even replacing a tube a pain.

With many people working from home just don't change the clock. Your body won't know, get up at the same time and pretend it is still daylight saving.
