Re: How was your commute today

ObCommute: Mr Bianchi, the guy I set my clock by, is back on the path. I thought of saying "Hello Mr Bianchi, happy new year!" But that would have been weird and creepy. Not weird at all! I struck up a conversation with a regular walker because we always crossed paths on my thrice-weekly ...

Re: How was your commute today

Not great. But given there was a 20-30% chance that the chemo might not have worked and has this time it has given us some more time... Sorry to hear that Dalai. Treasure every second with her and I hope she has many more years to live and bring joy to the lives of those around her. Here is a usefu...

Re: How was your commute today

Yesterday was our first work day back. Motivation factor ZERO. But at leastCruising the paths, both there and back, remembering that this commute route will get me pretty darn fit considering I'm regularly riding into a headwind both ways. Oh well, my fault for not looking at dominant wind directio...

Re: How was your commute today

Last day of the work year last year and even though we had our firm lunch so 'finished' at midday, I ended up going back to work and working until I had to dash to the Big Bash at Etihad in the evening. I was supposed to ride all the way home and drive back so I could take my partner home as well af...

Re: How was your commute today

I've "enjoyed" reading of your daily battles on the roads of Oakleigh and I think it's line ball with Summernight the number of interactions with motorists per trip. She's gone west and her reports about the conflict around Elizabeth St and Albert St seem distant memories. One day I'll ve...

Re: How was your commute today

Congratulations Daicos Mullets! Great achievement!

Headwind in again this morning, but if it turns out like yesterday, it'll be a pleasant ride home. :)

Re: How was your commute today

Thanks for the visor tips, people! Love the disco visor. Harharhar. That Mapei one is on the money, but needs less Mapei, more rainbow. I do love the Mapei jerseys though. Headwind on the way in, but at least it wasn't scorching! Hopefully it remains in the same direction and I can have a lovely tai...

Re: How was your commute today

Thanks Ritch, much appreciated. Might try it one time to see the difference. :) The gate was closed again two nights ago - and it was quite amusing watching the motorcyclist and car behind me who also wanted to use the sneaky detour. The motorcyclist was in front of the car, saw the gate was closed,...

Re: How was your commute today

Thanks Wagger. I was intending to start taking whatever I chose regularly, so the build-up effect of magnesium is good to know. I will look out for those side-effects, although they might not be any different to my normal anyway. (Gas? What gas?) :P The gate to the industrial estate shortcut was clo...

Re: How was your commute today

The gate to the industrial estate shortcut was closed last night, necessitating a u-turn and hopping off the bike to walk up the Arden Street stairs... And of course, on the other side of the estate, those gates were open... Gah... Feeling a bit tired lately - so used a bit of a work colleague's mag...

Re: How was your commute today

Settled into the new house - now done about three weeks' worth of commuting from there. The increased distance, less waiting at traffic lights and more hills means I'm getting more hungry. On the plus side I think I'm toning up, even with the blocks of chocolate that may or may not be consumed on a ...

Re: Cyclist killed on Snow Rd

Word on the street is that because there was a perfectly good bike trail ... I read that and also read the comment from the police with the usual carp about 'although you can and are entitled to as a cyclist, you shouldn't ride on the road because there is a shared path'. Ridiculous victim blaming....

Re: How was your commute today

Long weekend last week, coupled with a marketing stint necessitating being at the races on Oaks Day meant reduced number of commutes last week. Rode to my parent's place which is close to the North Melbourne train station on the racecourse line. Bucketed down the entire way. Things were wet wet. For...

Re: nails at Kew Boulevard, weekend 22/23 Feb 2014

Perfect, so there's only about 3 hours of surveillance footage/rego plates they need to go through? That indeed is the point. There are no cameras in place. So far, the police, VicRoads & the council have not been willing to install any cameras. The cyclists affected will need to co-operate wit...
