Re: GVBR 2017

I was on the 9 day ride, but only did 5. Heard weather reports and started asking questions about the next few days when in Bairnsdale. Focus was on getting to Maffra (which I thought was do-able), with no consideration post Maffra. But the Maffra Rec Reserve (camp site) is next to the Maffra wetlan...

Re: How was your commute today

Was it just me, or was there a distinct lack of traffic on the roads this morning. It just felt light as travelling in this morning. Had to drive in this morning because of after work commitments. Motor traffic was very, very light - possibly even better than school holidays. Wonder who's having a ...

Re: IBAC launches probe into Victoria Police response to Premier's wife 2013 car crash - TheAge

Looks like partial recall on my part... Mr Andrews said the family was returning to the place they had rented in the popular holiday town, after a morning at the beach, when his wife made a right turn. He said there was a bike path running along the side of the road, which was well hidden by tea tre...

Re: IBAC launches probe into Victoria Police response to Premier's wife 2013 car crash - TheAge

I vaguely recall that the cyclist was riding on the footpath, crossing a side road expecting it to be clear, suddenly found an SUV in their way and stopped by running into it. Anyway, it should all come out soon.

Re: How was your commute today

Rolling down Nicholson St Abbotsford in-bound yesterday morning. Looking at a white SUV approaching a stop sign on my left, looking to turn left. Thought he'd seen me, but no. Not sure how he missed me, as I was in the right side of the bike lane and had my AyUps blinking. He rolled through the stop...

Re: How was your commute today

Police stopping a bunch of cyclists at the crossing on Southbank Promenade (William st crossing), for crossing against the lights this morning. Looked like an organized crackdown. I wonder how many motorists crossed against the red light on that same intersection yesterday? I started crossin...

Re: Dromana to Sorrento is it possible ?

Bay trail is off road from Safety Beach through to Rye - but it wanders through all the camping grounds, etc so much slower than the road, and not readily do-able during summer. Very pleasant ride though during the cooler months if you're not going for distance or speed.

Re: How was your commute today

Seriously impressed with the guy on the folding bike who gave chase down the MYT from Heidelberg all the way to Chandler highway. It didn't feel right to tell him to take his turn on the front. Err why? Small wheels <> slow Wheels <> slow, but folding bike usually = very upright position

Re: How was your commute today

:D Cold at the start, but went at a good pace until my core was well and truly warm. Around 20 mins in leaving Westerfolds Park the beanie came off, and that was about it. Lovely bright clear morning.

Re: How was your commute today

Ride home last night started off damp - significant shower that didn't last long, but wet the ground. Good riding, and very quiet on the MYT. Got out to Westerfolds Park and thought I might be in for a PB, so I slowed a little and kept an eye out. Smashed my PB :D , nine (9) wombats spotted on the r...

Re: How was your commute today

:D Outer MYT very wet from rain overnight, lots of puddles and soft spots, but nothing too bad. New end of trip facilities across the road from building I'm in - a new tower is being built alongside, and this building getting upgraded at street level. Facilities look pretty, but very poor functional...

Re: A good news thread

Fantastic news done Wagger, a major achievement indeed. You know it gets easier, the skills will come back and you'll be able to enjoy the ride - rather than just enjoying that you're riding. :D
