Re: Cycling as weight loss

... Yeah - though I figure as usual, the early kilos are the easy kilos.... Yes, absolutely correct! It's the last 5Kg that are the hardest to shake off. It's easy enough to start but as you get closer to your goal you have to increasingly impose more discipline on your diet. Similarly, riding up a...

Re: Hire a wheel set for one - two days

.... I've always felt that the Michelin Pro series are a more supple, better fit and grippier tyre than the GP4000 range..... Yes, I had Michelin Pro tyres on the bike before I switched to Continental. I agree the Michelin were very grippy. My experience was that they got too many punctures - hence...

Re: Hire a wheel set for one - two days

...... To me, it was always about the quality ............ You won me at " quality ". Yes, putting cheap wheels on an expensive bike is not the right way to go, a backwards step - sorta defeats the purpose. Yesterday I went for a long ride and that gave me a lot of time & opportunity ...

............... They also cost more in my experience. This is very true indeed! I'm currently having a furious argument with myself about whether I should spend big bucks for custom wheels or just get a cheap factory pair - and if they bust then just buy another pair? Reminds me of the dilemma we a...

Hi Dale, thanks for your contribution. Yes, seeing as how I'm trying to avoid broken spokes I should pay attention to which spokes a wheel has. Sapim seem to have a good reputation. Are they the best?

............ If you are more than 90kg ............ Hi parawolf , thanks for your interest & support :) I'm only a little guy - rider weight is not a problem for selecting wheels. The reason why I'm looking around is that my original road bike wheels have done a lot of Kms and broken two spokes...

Re: Hire a wheel set for one - two days

............. 1. Carbon wheels have shown themselves to be the go to rim for the really tough stuff. Think Tour Divide, Race to the Rock etc. Most of the applications though use Disc brakes which is not your bag. 2. BikePro in Burwood build a range of sound wheels. http://www.bikepro.com.au/Product...

Re: First magpie attack of the 2017 season

The good news is that because a lot of magpies started breeding early this year we can now look forward to an early end of the divebombing season. The ones that started bombing in August have now finished. However, be aware that not all magpies started early and any who started at the usual time wil...
