Re: What is this?

What would happen if you hired two private detectives to follow each other? they'd end up in a pub together having a beer or two and plotting on what stories & scenarios they could tell you so that you would keep paying them  Now - back to the original topic - "what is that?"...

Re: Solution to the magpie dilemna?

Sorry this post is too late - the divebombing season is finished now - but hopefully you might be able to remember this next September/October. In previous springtimes I found I was getting hit on the back of the neck below the helmet so this year what I did was to ride (in the area where the magpie...

Re: SEN topic this morning: registration for cyclists

In other words, does motor vehicle registration return more to the government than its running costs? I'd really be interested in the answer to that :) . --- Victor. "in 2007-08 aggregate motor vehicle taxation revenue is expected to grow by $44.5 million (3.4 per cent) compared to the 2006-07...

Re: Is the Knox path system the best in Melbourne?

Thanks for posting that map. Why doesn't the Upfield path go through to the ring road path north of it? Seems strange. Yes, those maps are handy :D I haven't been on the Upfield path for a few years (I usually prefer the Merri Creek trail), but zooming in on the map it looks like you would have a g...

Re: Is the Knox path system the best in Melbourne?

Just on a point I raised earlier, does anyone know if there was ever a Bicycle Users Group in these parts, and if there was, what happened to it ? There is one group that meets at the Spokes bicycle shop in Ferntree Gully and I've heard there is another group that meets at the bicycle shop (not sur...

Re: Possible New trail?

Pete, Thanks for that. I see the Heads Rd bridge at Melways map 49 B3. Is that right? When you leave McIntyres lane (heading south) and go down the creek, which side of the creek do you start on? East or West? My mistake was that whenever I reached Tindals Rd (coming from Warrandyte Rd) I always tu...

Re: How was your recreational ride today?

Earlier today I rode the Heatherdale to Syndal pipeline track. When I say "track' - that's not quite right, perhaps "route" might be a better description. There are quite a few kilometres where you are riding on grass - there hasn't been enough traffic to wear the grass down to dirt. ...

Re: Is the Knox path system the best in Melbourne?

I've been a regular rider on bike paths since the early 1980s and up to a few years ago I used to be able to say that I had ridden every bike path in Melbourne. However, in recent years they're building them so fast that i can no longer keep up and there are now several paths that I have not ridden....

Possible New trail?

On the bigyak maps there's one trail shown in purple as opposed to all the others shown in green. See here - http://www.bigyak.net.au/gmaps/vicbiketrailsgmap.html It starts off Tindals Rd, Park Orchards (Melways map 34 J10) and runs down to meet the trail over the Eastlink tunnel in the vicinity of ...
