Re: Aaaaaaaaar - $20 for a ATB riders water bottle.

Brutal. Just.... brutal. I was thinking of everyone riding up from Frankston. Do you think lots gave up and caught the train? Looking at the 210/250 finishing results, of those that started (lots of DNS yesterday), I'd say 40% didn't record a finishing time. Couldn't face the grind up from Franksto...

While I agree with the sentiment, I can't see the suggested solution(s) getting up

Re: New RTB Route 2016

I started Sorrento return yesterday, had a deflating tyre at Black Rock and lost a bit of time finding out that my spare tube didn't want to hold air either and visiting a local bike shop. Was Ok going south, but very blustery from Dromana. Coming back I decided to bale at Frankston. Doing the dista...

Re: Helmet Laws.. or Losers who have heaps of time to talk crap.

I think I now understand the different perspectives much better. Wearing a helmet was a requirement, and I didn't worry about it as it wasn't a significant impact on me either way. Now I'm more pro-choice, but I will choose to wear a helmet most of the time - although I'd use the blue bikes more if ...

Re: How was your commute today

Lovely ride in. Left my front light batteries on charge at home, so need to make it home in good time tonight - and I'd like to avoid the rain.

  Glad it wasn't more serious - although I'm sure it's going to hurt. Heal well and fast.

Re: Helmet Laws.. or Losers who have heaps of time to talk crap.

I'm ok with 50 kmh, just not sure some of the "MHL at any cost" brigade would support it. Or maybe lower residential streets to 40 kmh if they won't

Re: Helmet Laws.. or Losers who have heaps of time to talk crap.

It's hard to quantify in thia debate but remember the debate is over whether helmets should be compulsory, not if helmets work. Agree with this. From what I've read my current understanding is: - you're personally safer with a helmet on than without - you're personally safer with more people riding...

Re: Saddles, which do you find comfortable ?

I'm using a Selle Italia Max SLR Gel Flow on my CX and road bikes. I was using an older Selle Italia Lady to get the width, but many of the current saddles seem to be wider now. I find the Max is good for ~6hrs doing around the bay, where the older saddle was only good for ~4hrs. It's not "soft...

Re: How was your commute today

verrrry foggy out Warrandyte way this morning, didn't see sunshine until Fairfield. Bit of a nuisance slowing down for puddles and soft spots after yesterdays rain, but didn't want to risk anything more dramatic. Should be a nice ride home.

Re: How was your commute today

Commuted Thursday last week, and expecting to again tomorrow - looks like the best bet weather wise, although Friday may also be a possibility.

Re: How was your commute today

Saw my first wombat of the "commuting home in the dark" season last Friday night. Healthy looking specimen out past Westerfolds park. Thought it would be warm enough for arm warmers and gillet today, but had cold shoulders for 15mins or so where it was only 10c rather than the advertised 1...

Re: Motor found inside bike

I have no idea what model it was, but most of those Specialized e-bikes cost serious money like-- er more than I spend on a road bike. :D I am surprised that given the initial cost it was not considered worth locking up. He had "locked it up" - he had the "ignition" key
