Re: Tips Needed

I commute Bundoora - Eumemmering once a week. I go past Doncaster Shoppo to Middleborough then cross over at Highbury rd to Blackburn Rd down to Dandy Rd then follow that all the way in to work. Dandy Rd is good in the morning. Afternoons i go along Dandy Creek trail and stay on trails to Watsy Army...

Re: Asthma and riding

Thanks everyone. Well a week before the Alpine Classic i saw the doc. Got the medium strength preventer and i think it helps a little but didn't stop it. (other stuff) Hoping this is a passing phase. The preventer does take up to a couple of weeks to take full effect. Well done on getting through t...

Re: Eastern suburbs group training rides: Maling Room Ride (MRR)

Today is the 10th anniversary of our first ride. It's been a lot of kms, a lot of coffees, and a lot of laughs, so thanks to everyone who's been part of our MRR family. 10 years WOW. I can't believe it's been that long. The closest I get to it now is watching riders on dead man's as I'm driving to ...

Re: Peaks 2017

Don't go easy, you need endurance and LOTS of it. The week before the event is your easy week. Im not sure what else you did besides the two ascents but that's only 'what' about 70 km. Don't get me wrong, it's still good hill training but your going to be doing a 230km ride and when you get to that ...

Re: Asthma and riding

You've probably already done it by now but definitely get a preventer. I use Seretide (when i think to). Management is the key to asthma. If you have an episode out on a ride stop, sit and relax, use your ventolin (you can have up to 12 doses in one go. (Equivalent to one nebulizer dose.)), sit and ...

Re: obsessed with my average speed.

If your truly obsessed with Ave speed, set auto pause to at least 10kph that'll bump up ave speed.

But as Dalai and Piled said VAM an Watts/kg is where the cool kids are focusing.
I don't even have pause feature set on my garmin, what it is, is what it is.
Ave speed is, Sooo Nooob.

Why stop with cyclists?
All people should have to wear an ID of some sort so lawbreakers and those indulging in antisocial behavior can be identified.

Maybe a forehead tattoo at birth, and a microchip implant.

Re: How was your commute today

Waited for 20mins and rode in with 3 workmates. 2 of them were first time commuters. Took them via st georges road, CCT, canning, rathdowne, latrobe. None of them had ever ridden the CCT or canning. Converted 2 of them already with them already organising access to the bike room and a bike locker. ...

Re: City of Melb next two year of major works!

I'd like to thank CoM for the magnificent job of making the part time bike lane on Exhibition virtually unrideable (road bike) between Latrobe and Little Lonsdale southbound, awesome job fellas removing solid green treatment and replacing with green lumps.

Re: How was your commute today

Yesterday: Morning ride into from "back of" Macleod to Melbourne CBD - slight tail wind from the north, warmish but OK, really good ride with no "what the..." moments from MM's or DGAF pedestrians. Shower, coffee, perfect start to the work day! Afternoon: left work early, 2.30 p...

Re: How was your commute today

How good was the morning today!!! I've been doing spin classes and getting coaching lately so my bike commuting has had to be cut back in order to incorporate more recovery, so today I was going to tram it in but once I saw what the day was like I said stuff it I'm riding, left home earlier than I n...
