Re: Abbotsford Cycles

Tony, things do get far too heated on the forum, and that's the greatest negative and the reason I stopped posting here altogether. And Mike, Earl wasn't "removed" from the forum, but stepped-down from being a Mod because of the infighting. Again, unfortunate. I pop in occasionally to see ...

Re: Goldcross - 50% off a whole heapa bikes

I've just bought a new 2009 Fuji Newest 1.0 to replace the one that was destroyed during my accident when the car that hit me. Got it for a bargain price too!!! :D Thanks Earl. My pleasure Dude. Happy to help a fellow cyclist. Just watch out for those cheeky buggers in cars with touchy accelerators...

Re: Is replicating bikes illegal? Sample provided

As per Baudman's comment; provided it is sold as a replica, which it is, there isn't a problem. If it were being passed-off as Colnago, that would be illegal.

Re: Fit a 185cm rider on a 21' frame?

You haven't mentioned where you're buying the bike, but irrespective ask the salesperson to fit you to the bike, or another bike if more appropriate. That's what they're there for! Just a passing comment; your height or inner seam length isn't the sole governing factor in fitting you to a bike, it's...

Re: Wheel troubles

You don't say how old the wheels are whether a standard 34 -36 spoke, but there does come a point where a set of spokes reach their figurative 'use by date'. If a couple of spokes break withing a relatively short space of time without the wheels being subjected to any unusual stresses it could be a ...

Re: Buckled wheel

Out of round is a different story all together. That is, it's not wobbling side to side onto the brake pads, but feels like it's rising and falling as you ride. Is that what you mean? If so, it could be a couple of things, including that the tyre isn't beading properly. Check to see that it is evenl...

Re: Fitting me to my bike???????

As written by kathym. It may go way beyong saddle hight and reach, but it sounds like you're supporting most of your weight on your arms. Basically, after taking up your normal riding position, you should be able to take your hands off the handlebars without having to sit up. Moving the saddle forwa...

Re: 2010 great victorian bike ride new rider/tips please

Melinda's advice is all good. The more you can ride between now and the end of November, the easier it will be, but remember, it's all about enjoying yourself. Don't push yourself too hard too soon. Also, most of your riding will be on primary and secondary roads, so get used to riding in groups and...

Re: 21 Year old man dies after been hit by cyclist

It's always unfortunate when anyone gets injured in an accident, irrespective of the cause, but more unfortunate when idiots use the publicity to further their own cause, especially motorists- V - cyclists. Absolutely NOTHING is achieved by either side except for a bout of verbal diarrhoea. It's sim...

Re: noise from rear wheel

Almost certainly sounds like bearings to me. The problem with using degreaser, or RP7 for that matter, is you'll dissolve any grease in the bearings. RP7 is a solvent NOT a lubricant so should never be used to lube anything. Also, one of the greatest causes of bearing damage is Karcher style high pr...

Re: 2010 GVBR registrations

No idea, but I'm sure a few would have taken advantage of the free tee shirt offer on this years ride. Others, like myself, will procrastinate for a few months. I'll wait until vollie applications open, then decide whether I'm going to go as a riding volunteer again or pay to do the ride and just ki...
