Re: Spotted a forumer in your travels

I've still got my "Forum Riders" jersey from 2010. It has held up remarkably well. I often wear it if I'm riding in the inner city area but in 10 years I was only spotted 3 times. For social restriction reasons I haven't been anywhere near the inner city this year. Who knows when the next ...

Re: Why are the Forums slowing down?

...snip It used to be fun. A lot of activity, banter, arguments and even group rides. Not to mention tips and advice on repairs, purchases, etc. I'm not sure where people go now. Maybe Facebook groups, although I haven't found one like this. And not being smartphone compatible doesn't help. I spend...

Re: Djerring Trail Talk

For the people who regularly ride this trail - what's your preferred route from Caulfield to Mebourne CBD?

Re: New 13 speed cassette in the pipeline

There must be a limit as to how many cogs you can have on the cassette before the chain goes to crazy angles.

Personally, I'm happy with 9 or 10 speed cassettes. The gap between ratios is not reduced all that much by 11 speed.

Re: Mullum Mullum Creek path new bridges?

Definitely need to go and check it out..... have been planning to take Lil Miss Snuffy on a simple overnighter to that caravan park on the trail, but the assorted road (and offroad) detours would have been a bit too hectic with the WeeHoo. Hopefully my legs are up to the task of hauling all of that...

Re: Why are the Forums slowing down?

Doubtful there are that many needing moderating. More likely IRL people don't want to discuss some topics on FB, or not under their name, etc. And people click but don't follow up or interact on many things online. Probably even forget many of the things they have clicked... It is one reason I foun...

Re: The fall and fall of your local bike shop

The web site does not appear to list a street address so as you say internet only but are prospective customers able to test ride any of the bikes on offer? Mike Hi Mike, The owners/staff are pretty friendly and customer conscious so I assume they would allow test rides. Give them a call to check. ...

Re: The fall and fall of your local bike shop

When out riding yesterday I called in to a most fascinating bike "shop". I say "shop" because it's not like your traditional bike shop - perhaps it's more like a factory outlet? They also have some very hi-tech fitting equipment on site. Firstly, it's tucked away in the back stre...

Re: Anniversary Trail bridge over Toorak rd

When heading south on the anniversary trail the safest option is to use the traffic lights to cross Toorak Rd into Summerhill Rd and then go along the alley (Central Ct) behind the shops to re-join the trail. See HERE

Re: Shimano or Sram

Hi ludlow - I've got a road bike with Shimano Ultegra and a CX bike with Sram Rival (1 x Chainring). Personally, I prefer the Shimano Compact (dual chainring) but the Sram 1X is acceptable for the use I give it. That is, my CX bike is used mainly on gravel roads through the forest - so you're either...
