Re: Near miss in Kingsville. Child vs Truck

There are parallels between this awful near miss and 16 May 2018 when a teenage girl crossing Maroondah Hwy Mitcham Vic. was hit and killed by a turning truck.

Re: How was your recreational ride today?

Now that im WFH i went out for an exercise ride in my local suburbs this morning and I was surprised how may people were out walking and riding. Being the first dry morning in a few days certainly contributed im sure.

Im working from home now so, commuting is off the agenda.

I hope to sneak in a few evening rides before daylight savings ends.

Re: How was your mechanical fiddling today?

Not my fiddling, but I had my bottom bracket bearing replaced. What a difference it makes, so smooth and quiet. That bearing had only lasted 15,000 km. Not a lot.

Re: How was your commute today

So. excuse my stupidity, But, I really shouldnt go looking in car windows. The number of people using their phones while on the move, its just too depressing. Which leads me to to today's commute home, I was going along little Lonsdale st and the traffic was moving slowly. I passed a car on the left...

Re: How was your commute today

I finished work early and did the Gardiners Creek trail home, Ive decided to add abit more variety to my rides. This is a pretty ride. I had a tail wind most of the way. I should do it more often

Re: Box Hill to Ringwood Rail Trail

The diversion at Heatherdale rd is a a shocker even considering im a local. The first time i tried it I tired of the diversion and turned off down the Eastlink path. But what I find more annoying is the Springvale rd crossing. Heading east the path just seems to stop at Springvale rd. There are no d...

Sometimes its got nothing to do with yourself or anything youve done. Even though you coped it, the response was all about something that was going on in their mind. They are particularly dangerous road users.

That wind was a shocker. Drained the energy out of me by the time I arrived home.

Re: How was your commute today

I have seen foxes several times in the afternoon on the Koonung Creek Trail near the Boronia Grove park. They would hang around watching me approaching until they ducked into the bushes.

Re: How was your commute today

I use Seal Skinz socks in wet weather. They are advertised as waterproof and perhaps thats true. Though, I suspect some water tends to get inside by running down my legs. They do keep my feet warmer in frosty weather.

Re: Traffic lights, Yarra Blvd / Chandler Hwy Intersection

And the underpass is open. Approaching Chandler Hwy along the Bvd this arvo I noticed the access barriers were removed. So, I had to try it. The ramp is windy without any sharp corners and not at steep as i expected. In a moment I was out the other side and heading east in the usual manner. My first...

Re: How was your commute today

Despite the northerly wind this afternoon was almost a little warm for my winter jacket. I arrived home with a layer of sweat under my jacket.
