What are the mask rules for riders? And other Covid 19 questions

Hi everyone, I thought it would be a good idea to start a topic for Q&A about Covid 19 rules.
As of today 23/7 a lot of us are a bit confused as to what the mask rules are for cyclists.
I believe we are allowed to ride without a mask but must be *carrying* a mask when we do.
Is this correct?

Re: How was your commute today

Hello all! Hope you are behaving yourselves! I'm still in WFH mode but absolutely loving the fact that I can ride in the middle of the day (dividing my working day into kind of split shifts) instead of freezing cold mornings and dark evening rides, plus I can ride in all kinds of directions instead ...

Re: How was your commute today

Well, Daicos, it's happened here. You too, probably. I'll be working from home for the foreseeable and doing some rides in a non-work direction for fitness.Thank goodness cycling and walking are pastimes you can enjoy in a pandemic

Re: How was your commute today

Thanks Claude and Canuck :)
Rode in today... slooooooowly… Starting is painful and probably quite annoying for others behind me
Lovely weather though and good to be away from the trains.
Claude, you seem to have had more than one near miss lately. Hope that's it for a while

Re: How was your commute today

I'm baaaaaaaaaaaaack… But not on the bike... I had a nasty fall from a horse on what was to be a blissful day out to round off my holiday. Oh well. No broken bones, just a majorly sore core which doesn't cope well with bending, bumps or starting/stopping :P Work is talking about setting me up for wo...

Re: How was your commute today

The paths were absolutley packed this morning. There wasn't enough space in the intersection islands at Murray Rd and Miller St to safely hold the number of cyclists. From about Bell St south, there was pretty much a constant string of cyclists down the St Georges Rd path. There were few gaps for t...

Re: How was your commute today

Triathlete in a hurry tried the 'overtaking someone who is already overtaking' move this morning. I was cruising past a slow rider, he decides to take us both. Suddenly we're 3-abreast at the top of the rise near the Hawthorn hockey fields. He then cut in too quickly and his back / my front wheels ...

Re: How was your commute today

Got a compliment from a roadie at some stop lights today on my cup holder :D
(The Dutchie bike has a chrome cup holder instead of a bidon holder - holds an insulated mug)

Re: How was your commute today

Another section of bike path lost! This time it's the up section of the Marvel Stadium bridge.
The post-tunnel-digging bike infrastructure had better be good to compensate for all the inconvenience and danger to us.
Couldn't make it up all the way because the headwind was so strong!

Re: How was your commute today

What a relief.
Even in a city as smoggy as Melbourne, I take clear air too much for granted.
(Now if they could do something about the diesel fumes everywhere...)

Re: How was your commute today

The air quality today was described as "hazardous". :o I know we're all committed to riding as much as possible, but I think folks should reconsider on days like this. Sure if we take PT we're breathing the air, but not as deeply as when we're riding and exerting ourselves. At least wear a...

Really nice ride in. Clear skies and no smoke haze.
Hoping for the best for all the people in the East of the state.

Re: How was your commute today

Hi everyone, HNY. Returning to work tomorrow and I'm thinking what will be my personal approach to smoke haze days. Bought some P1 (normal) masks from Bunnings but all the P2 masks were sold out. P2 are what is recommended for smoke haze. As someone who wears specs too, I know from painting/renovati...
