Re: How was your commute today

I don't subscribe to the fallacy that the actions of one cyclist, some random person whom I've never met, somehow reflects badly on all of us. No offence intended. There are plenty of motorists out there doing dumb things also, but I don't hold all motorists responsible for these idiots. I take no ...

Re: How was your commute today

Had an, ultimately very amusing, run-in with a driver who nearly took me out last night, then got antsy when I called them out on it. Had the usual "all cyclists" diatribe through an open passenger window whilst I was riding along, minding my own business wondering what I might have for te...

Re: How was your commute today

Close passing laws have been forgotten already. Nothing threatening but no effort made either. <snip> This (although tbh I'm not sure they were noted much at the time). Now traffic levels are back to (or exceeding) those in the Before Times there has been a commensurate increase in both The Distrac...

Tyre* Size vs Rim Size Advice

*Tire if you must but (a) personally I'm quite awake and not tired, and (b) we are not American Firstly. I'm staggered the last post i this sub-forum was me, 9 months ago. OK, that dispensed with, here is my current conundrum... ...my new-ish bike came, ex-factory, with Alexrims DC19 wheels (ETRTO 6...

Re: How was your commute today

Switched offices so I've only managed the two commutes this week. I can now categorically state that traffic has gone back to pre-Covid levels* (at least in the middle SEBurbs to CBD).

*and then some

Re: How was your commute today

Was today "Drive at a Cyclist Day"? Or am I just special? Either way I didn't get the memo.

Re: How was your commute today

Soft day, thank God! (or so the Irish say) with a marked increase in traffic. I've never minded cycling in the wet and I always enjoy sailing past a traffic jam.

Re: How was your commute today

Had a poignant reminder of the Before Times this morning - had to wait for a shower cubicle to be vacated in the EOT facilities. Bought a tear to the eye [Note 1]

Been quite blustery and chilly the past two evenings - unusual for March

Note 1: not really

Re: How was your commute today

Had a nice couple of commutes y'day and today. Coolish in the mornings but very pleasant.

I appear to have fallen into a routine of Tue-Thu in the office with Mon & Fri WFH. Monitoring the traffic over the last couple of weeks I have formed the opinion that Wednesday is deffo peak-office day.

Re: How was your commute today

So, there I was, whining about fitness levels, which got me to thinking about life, the universe, and bike commuting - specifically mine. And it quickly dawned on me that not only had the covid situation robbed* me of my fitness it had also robbed** me of my motivation to commute by bike. I realised...

Re: Meat & 3 Veg

Harrisa-spiced meatballs in an eclectic* tomato sauce with patatas bravas**. Actually worked quite well - surprisingly *eclectic insofar as I chucked in leftover slow-cooked brisket sauce and leftover enchilada sauce into a basic tomato sauce **kinda, sorta, squint-a-bit. Sauteed some potatoes, spri...

Re: How was your commute today

^This... but my current client is insisting on Tue/Thu in the office for me. Ergo 2x boat-anchor round trips a week. That coupled with some calorie restrictions to try and reduce some of my Covid Cuddliness makes for some le-puff-le-pant trips home* *Well, that's my excuse and I'm sticking to it. It...

Re: How was your commute today

Back doing the commute thing regularly, albeit not daily, and quickly discovering that whilst round *is* a shape its not the shape I want to be in. There was a distinct increase in traffic last week and I will be intrigued to see how much it increases after Tuesday - anecdata suggests more people ha...

Re: Christmas/festival greetings

Hope everyone's Christmas was the best it could be. And a HNY to all.

I'm still-a-bit-active on the forums. But I probably need to find a few more gins so I report on them to get the traffic up.
