Re: Cyclist in crash on Keilor Park Drive near Slater Parade, East Keilor

I heard about this, via email, around 15 minutes ago, then found this article on ABC Online.

Re: AS and IQ and driving stuff

Thanks fixie and Canuck. It's Aspergers syndrome - part of the autism spectrum. There has been a recent 'drop the d' campaign which I agree with - the 'disorder' part of ASD doesn't help. Canuck - how had you heard about 'I Can' before? I Can has an email mailing list, and a monthly newsletter calle...

Re: AS and IQ and driving stuff

Moderators - can someone who is familiar with BCcode reduce the size of the images in this post, so they aren't so huge? I haven't figured out how to do it :( Its been a while since I posted on the Bicycle Victoria forums - I use Facebook and Twitter a lot more now. It was World Autism Awareness Day...

Re: Living arrangement options - any advice?

I remembered that this thread was somewhere in "Off topic", so I managed to find it again. After a few months of looking at units, I finally found something suitable and bid at auction last Saturday. (Yes, I did the bidding myself.) I housesat for one of my friends a few times late last ye...

Re: post a pic of your latest purchase!

This is "old" news for people who have seen on Facebook (93 likes now!). My purchase last Saturday is certainly the most substantial in my life ... settlement is on 13 November, so I'll move in around a year after purchasing my car and starting to gain my freedom! Its a 2 bedroom unit, so ...

Re: AS and IQ and driving stuff

And I know that labels don't necessarily mean anything either but seriously you go to any high school & tell that to any group of yr 7 - 10 (even beyond) and see how far you get! I wasn't diagnosed until 14, so was in Year 9 - and I certainly didn't disclose to my high school mates straight awa...

Re: You know yaw a cyclist when...

At the recent teaching two-day symposium (Monash Moodle Symposium), one of the presenters - while chatting before the session starts - recognises you from the cafe near Kew Bvld, after one of the TT's there. You stop in the middle of a race for a marriage proposal... You know who you are. You spend ...

Re: post a pic of your latest purchase!

Nice, Dalai! Not my most recent purchase now, but definitely most substantial purchase ... in mid November I bought myself a 2nd hand silver 2006 Honda Jazz! http://i84.photobucket.com/albums/k8/PenRob/Car.jpg After I'd warmed up, and done the "flying lap" at the Omnium championships (17-1...

Re: HAPPY BIRTHDAY ROSHEA...

Happy belated Birthday, Roshea. (Plus happy birthday to Mr Shaz). I spent my 30th birthday (also on the 6th) at an all day teaching symposium, before going to track training as per usual. Then after training (and getting up to 53 km/hr behind the motorbike ... after I'd paced the group at 30 km/hr f...

Re: AS and IQ and driving stuff

Resurrection of an old topic I know, but does anyone on here have any information/experience/help with primary school age AS sufferers? Obviously those of you who are diagnosed with AS do. In particular any suggestions on how to develop an interest in the written word, it seems that for this little...

Re: Fundraiser for junior worlds sprinters

Australia did a 1-2-3 in the men's sprint!! Jacob Schmid (CCCC) GOLD, Emerson Harwood (BBN) Silver, Zac Shaw (Colac) Bronze. Alex Morgan (BBN) got bronze in the individual pursuit, with Jack Cummings (CCCC) qualifying 5th. Taylah Jennings (Queensland) won all 6 events in the omnium again to get the ...

Re: You know yaw a cyclist when...

You realise after arriving back at work after a mid-afternoon photo shoot and Sports Minister announcement that you didn't take your helmet off the entire time - trip on the train, getting track bike out of the shed, riding around the velodrome with two kids (and one adult) in paceline plus the phot...

Re: AS and IQ and driving stuff

Wow - its been ages since I posted in this thread (or on the BV forum in general ... I tend to post on Facebook more now!) I found the "Women and Girls with Aspergers syndrome" talk by Tony Attwood in Sydney really interesting. I still remember the Collingwood vs. St Kilda Grand Final (tak...

Re: Sex and Age.

Another name that I can throw into the mix (having just seen Cycling Victoria's results release after the Vic ITT Champs yesterday) is Stephanie Frawley. She's over 50, and came 3rd in the Women's ITT Champs. CV results story here and results (pdf) here.
