Re: How was your commute today

I'm not sure if it was because I started out about 10 minutes later today, but the Gardiners Creek Trail and then the Yarra Trail were sooo busy. Great morning for it!

Re: How was your mechanical fiddling today?

Over Christmas my second eldest son got a new bike, so his old Giant Boulder goes to my youngest son. It has had a useful life, so it was worth spending some money on it. I had previously purchased a chain, rear derailluer, some cables and grips. So some fiddling in the garage over the break resurr...

Re: How was your commute today

It's happened! I've finally hardened up! After a very slow, slack, slug-like year (2018) I've managed to drag myself out of bed with some level of consistency this week and ridden the 4 days I attend the office. And I feel so much better for it already. The return leg of the journey is decidedly slu...

Re: Commuting from the outer Eastern suburbs

Victor, that would likely be a bit early, but many thanks for the response.
Gerry, driving to VS would be preferable to Ashwood. I only drove there for historical reasons. What time are you normally heading off?

Commuting from the outer Eastern suburbs

Is there anybody here that regularly commutes to the city/surrounds from the outer Eastern suburbs? From that I mean 2 or more times a week from the Belgrave - FTG area that wouldn't mind some company? (and that doesn't have a cruising speed similar to the pro peloton) I had a commuting buddy until ...

Re: Super Tuesday count

I've got quite the collection of blue tshirts and collected another this year. I counted 800 at the intersection of Nicholson St and Gipps Rd, Abbotsford

Re: How was your commute today

First full commute to work in some time. I normally enjoy a mixed-mode commute. However; the sections from Ringwood to Box Hill are a welcome change. A little twisty and turny and not so well sign posted (thank goodness for seeing other commuters), but on the whole they are a marked improvement on t...

Re: Police hunt hit-run driver who ran down cyclist in Ballarat - HeraldSun

Very true. The whole 'driving is a privilege' notion seems to have been forgotten. We have so many laws, and so many of them are meant to be a deterrent, but without enforcement where is the deterrent? Driving without a licence, unregistered, while disqualified used to be an exception. It seems to b...

Re: How was your commute today

After 2 weeks off, it's back to the grind. Took the MTB to Sydney for the break. What a master stroke. This meant I could get some time to myself while the family slept in or went to see kids movies! I managed to ride Wylde MTB park in Western Sydney, Old Man's Valley MTB trails in Hornsby, Manly Da...

Re: Indian Pacific Wheelrace

If the police are not laying any charges, it suggests to me that someone is looking for a scapegoat. I do hope that the full details of the accident are presented to the coroner. I find it difficult understand the statement by council assisting, "he noted there may be matters that arise that w...

Re: How was your commute today

After a week of back country skiing out the back of Falls, followed by a week of sluggishness I resumed commuting duties this morning. It was going well until I reached Nicholson St and the rain began. Then just before I hit Johnston St I got struck by the puncture fairy!! A big stonking nail

Re: How was your commute today

After a couple of weeks on the commuting sidelines (CBF's) I've made the plunge this week and have racked up two days in a row! w00t! It's a bit easier for me to bug out on commuting now since my commuting buddy of 4 years retired recently. Having that riding partner who swings by your place in the ...

Re: How was your commute today

Frozen toe morning on the GCT! I think the winter-weight Endura socks are to be consigned to the bottom of the drawer until further notice.

Other than that it was a lovely ride in and there was no shortage of commuters and pedestrians on my route.

Re: How was your commute today

Toes are still thawing out. Nice clear, crisp morning is obviously a result of the same conditions overnight.

Glad I wore the longs today!
