Re: So where is everyone wanting to go?

If it ever gets built I would like to ride the Northern Rivers rail trail. From Casino to Murwillumbah in northern NSW. Beautiful countryside and plenty of wildlife, with plenty of interesting towns along the way. The weather is warm all year round, if a little damp at times - lush forests don't gr...

Re: How was your commute today

After 3 weeks of working from home because of a persistent cough, it's finally gone, and I'm resuming my 320km / week commute next week (although it will no doubt be wet). However, commuting that much requires more than 1 bike, so one can be fixed/maintained while I use the other. So on that note, ...

Re: Djerring Trail Talk

Almost a year since I last posted here, thanks to zero progress updates from the City of Glen Eira. Meanwhile in Port Phillip the council are commencing investigations into building their end of the bike corridor, with construction "expected" to begin in 2024 or 2025  I can only hop...

Re: Meat & 3 Veg

My second batch of mango and passionfruit chutney came out a treat. Lime zest with extra ginger and chilli flavour worked wonders. I also tried a lychee and raspberry version which was good but not as wild as I had hoped. My tamarind chutney was also okay but the tamarind I used was a little underwh...

Re: How was your commute today

Looked chilly so wore a tonne of clothes to keep warm. Probably wasn't that cold in reality, given my hands did not get cold even with the hole that developed where the stitching failed in the so-called "winter gloves". Traffic levels have gone through the roof this week and today was no e...

Re: How was your commute today

Not much riding lately for myself due to medical issues, but I did get a short ride in this arvo. Fantastic weather for it. I did notice plenty of cars pulling out from parking spaces and side streets into the car traffic without giving way properly, but I was left to ride in peace myself. Probably ...

Re: How was your commute today

Cool and damp conditions for my commute today. Like most of my commutes in this area I had no near-death experiences on my two wheels, despite the rubbish Jon Faine recently published. How do people justify being paid to write nonsense?

Re: How was your recreational ride today?

In a word, fantastic. Perfect riding weather set the scene for today's recreational trike ride around the Otways and GOR. With an early start from Anglesea I got the hard climbing out of the way early as I roamed inland into the forest. https://i.imgur.com/VbPWO9i.jpg It soon flattened out and flowe...

Re: How was your commute today

you're not going to like this response but a left turn on a red into cycle lane is a pretty safe move, in certain circumstances you're at more risk waiting at red as your risk is from behind, where left turner keeps risk in front of them and within their control. its a bit of a pardigm shift in how...

Re: How was your commute today

I found it refreshing to be out in the cool morning air under a full moon for my commute this morning. Felt fast too - what price can you put on even the vaguest sense of youthful exuberance when you get to my age? Maybe $400, since my bike cost that much :D

Re: How was your commute today

Close passing laws have been forgotten already. Nothing threatening but no effort made either. More of a worry is all the idiots using their phone whilst driving, usually out of line with the rest of the traffic making it difficult to ride down the left side of the road. Something I will take note o...

Re: How was your commute today

My commute was eventful, if an event is defined as a change in relations. Plenty of traffic on the road today. The shops did not open until an hour later than usual, but not a public holiday so I copped the full peak hour mayhem. Not an intrinsically bad situation since I probably would not normally...

Re: How was your commute today

Busyness is not a curse I bear; the life of leisure and reflection is the one for me. Despite the thermometer reading only 12˚C at home I did not feel the cold in the fresh air this morning. I put this down to a combination of recent previous experiences of riding in colder weather and not riding qu...

Re: How was your commute today

Very pleasant weather for the commute early this morning. I just looked at the weather radar now to see a large band of rain rapidly heading straight for Melbourne. Glad not be out in that. The legs were a bit slower than normal after yesterday's effort but should come up stronger in the long term.
