Re: How was your commute today

Cool but sunny weather for a brief commute into the shops. Even with a lengthy wait for two trains at one of Melbourne's few remaining level crossings the whole ride seemed to be over very quick. In other "news", the single Pearl Izumi glove was still lying in the bike lane after I saw it ...

Re: Delacombe hit and run

In general, I think the police news tries to avoid prejudicing any court trials. Well, then they stuffed up, because referring to the vehicle and not mentioning its driver is biased language, and that's exactly why I mentioned it. I am not sure I follow your reasoning. The link I posted is to the P...

Re: How was your commute today

The roads were drenched with water but I managed to find a window in the precipitation for my commute to the shops this morning. Very few people out and about, despite the end of lockdown. Maybe they gave up their early morning coffee and exercise routine for late night drinking and sleeping in. Leg...

Re: How was your recreational ride today?

I rode a loop around Djerring, Scotchmans Creek, Blind Creek, Eastlink and back to Djerring for the run home. The fantastic weather was enjoyed whilst making the most of our newfound freedom. Tomorrow might be a different story. In some ways I am lucky not to have a job, thus enabling me to ride as ...

Re: Delacombe hit and run

In general, I think the police news tries to avoid prejudicing any court trials. Without knowing all the facts, it is probably safer to describe it as a vehicle collision, than to blame a human who may be considered legally responsible for it. The police are supposed to be an instrument of justice, ...

Re: How was your commute today

A spectacular sunrise started the day, for a refreshingly cool ride to the shops in the crisp morning air. No wind made the ride all too easy. I only briefly rode a short section of bike path yet still managed to witness a commuter (with obligatory Crumpler bag) overtaking a jogger with oncoming cyc...

Re: How was your recreational ride today?

I am not sure you will find much sympathy from the Melburnians here Frosty. The Gold Coast's minimum of 16 degrees at 3 am is more than our current mid arvo temperature of 15.

Re: Meat & 3 Veg

Croissant report: They turned out better than expected for a first attempt. Reasonably fluffy but too crumbly to be a true example. Most importantly they tasted good, especially with marmalade spread on top. I will need to do some research to find out how to reduce the crumble factor.

Re: How was your commute today

The rain held off for a cool ride down to the shops this morning. I have been reading about the hail in NSW and I am certainly glad I was not out in anything like that. Traffic levels are still subdued and the bike was rolling easily in the calm conditions. My commute feels like a sanctuary from the...

Re: How was your commute today

Warm arvo trip to the shops today. Light traffic makes for easy riding so I was pretty happy with that one.

Re: Meat & 3 Veg

I have read a few recipes and they all involve a bit of skill and a lot of time. So that is one out of two I have on my side. If it goes ahead I will post up how it ends, or not being the more likely case.

Re: Meat & 3 Veg

Bagels for breakfast. Croissants will have to wait for another day. A day being how long it will probably take me to make them.

Re: How was your commute today

It is beginning to feel like I am living in a cafe. Can I get a croissant and magic, please? I did say "beginning". Croissant is beyond my ability right now, I might try one day but will probably need something similar yet easier to get myself started. Keeping the protein in the dough sep...

Re: How was your commute today

I walked today, thinking a slower trip to the shops would mean more time under the sunny sky. As luck would have it, said sky clouded over well before I got to the shops, in the Melbourne tradition of ever shifting weather. At least it was warm. My avocado got a bit squashed on the way back. Once I ...
