Re: How was your commute today

Just a few spots of water for me. Looks like it will get going properly by the time I ride back home. Wet weather gear is in the bag on standby.

Re: How was your commute today

Eeee, it was windy. I always feel more stressed after riding in a blustery wind.

Re: How was your recreational ride today?

I like to make the most of the warmer weather, so I rode down to Frankston along Beach Rd and then followed the Peninsula Link Trail into The Pines. Plenty of cars on the roads and almost no bikes on the trails. More room for me, at least. It was nice to breathe in the sea air again, after missing i...

Re: How was your commute today

As per above, it was a welcome return to warmer weather for myself too. I made the most of it with an extended and otherwise unnecessary round trip. Not being many cars about only caused it to be more pleasant.

Re: How was your commute today

Pretty windy this morning. I was feeling a little more energetic today, perhaps similar to cats who start running amok in the wind. The streets were quiet of traffic, so maybe the wind deterred people from getting out as much as they would normally. Strangely refreshing to be out in such weather, ye...

Around the Bay

My first multi day tour on the trike was a ride anti-clockwise around Port Phillip Bay, starting from the south eastern suburbs of Melbourne. I don’t have much cycle touring experience, so I checked a website with a list of tips. One tip wisely suggested to take less than what you think you need. Th...

Re: How was your commute today

After almost a week of touring on the trike, I found my commute on the hybrid today more tiring than expected. Any fitness gained was easily negated by the gale force winds. Traffic seemed much more peaceful too, now that I am back on the 40 - 60 km/h roads. As a side note, riding the hybrid felt li...

Re: How was your commute today

Dry roads for me on my later than usual ride to Port Melbourne. Plenty of traffic about, so I hope my lungs recover for the weekend of good riding weather coming up.

Re: How was your commute today

Beautiful spring weather for the commute today. I left early and beat all the traffic, along with the wind and rain. Legs felt strong and I did not have to stop along the way thanks to my no traffic light route. Currently I am bunkered down inside - with luck the weather will improve for my next com...

Re: How was your commute today

No rain but wet roads paved the way for my commute to the shops today. I paid a little more attention than usual to all the tram tracks and off-camber corners, lest I fall victim to complacency from the excess experience of slippery roads over the last few weeks. Once again I found a sweet spot in t...

Re: How was your commute today

Blue skies and very few cars on the road for my early commute today. Plenty of roadies out making the most of the weather while it lasts. I am glad there are so few people around in the shops, now that the COVID case numbers are stuck at such a high level. It is also an opportunity to appreciate the...

Re: How was your commute today

Tradie o'clock featured limited traffic on my commute today. I managed to beat the rain on the way out and it was only light rain on the way back home. I took the leafy tree-lined streets to limit my exposure to the precipitation, which seemed to work okay. Fortunately no rain jacket was needed as i...

Re: How was your commute today

Back to dry but cool this morning. The number of cars and cyclists commuting is still well down on normal as far as I can see. Traffic levels appear to fluctuate wildly when I am out and about. No clear pattern is obvious from my limited time out on the roads. Sometimes it is much higher than preCO...

Re: How was your commute today

Steady rain and wet roads greeted me on the commute this morning. Traffic was banked up for kilometres, as they stopped for the car double parked waiting for a free spot to appear right in front of the shop they wished to visit. These shopping strips have awnings but car drivers cannot tolerate walk...
