Re: Hybrid Bike

Can't remember if it was here or on BNA but someone had a thread re their experience of buying an Aldi bike. They had to do a lot of setting up, re lubing and adjusting of things on the bike, had to replace a part under warranty, he found Aldi was good in that regard, thought that it was going quite...

Re: The red light red herring

Two wrongs do not make a right. If I should run a red and have someone come after me my running the red would not excuse their behavior unless they were just an insect acting on instinct which I do not believe motorists are. So when they run you off the road or punch you and drive off you will be a...

Re: The red light red herring

Per crime, if your reason for not running a red light comes back to avoiding being bullied by car drivers then that is giving power to the bullies. If someone gets that seriously angry over something as minor as a cyclist going through a red light they should not hold a licence as there are many wor...

Re: The red light red herring

Maybe thats not the way it impacts safety. Maybe its the hostility that it turns on in motorists that translates into close shaves and left hooks and the odd fatal. I have seen a cyclist running a red turn a stopped motorist into a howling loon. Turning drivers into howling loons seems not so smart...

Re: The red light red herring

It seems that we are forgetting the original premises of this thread. red light running cyclists are only responsible for about 1℅ of cyclist accidents. Shouldn't we be more focussed on something that has a greater impact on our personal safety than this. Nothing that is said here will change the be...

Re: The red light red herring

Running red lights and stop signs mostly becomes dangerous when people go into "automatic mode" or as I like to refer to it they are "off with the pixies". Sometimes it may be through a miscalculation that a crash occurs but mostly it is that the red light/stop sign runner has si...

Re: Public Service Announcement

I think that we need to increase funding for women cycling teams.
None of those girls can afford to wear shoes.

Ride DVD 2012

Finally received the DVD of the ride that I had pre-ordered on sign up. Have found that the DVD has occassional moments where it freezes up for a short period of time. Wondering if I got a dud copy of the DVD or if other people have had the same with their copies. Actually saw a 1 second shot of me ...

2012 - The Summation

So the GVBR is over for another year. As a first time rider in this event - I found it to be a great ride but 2 days too long for me. :D I must say that I was in awe of the level of organisation that surrounded the event and that all the volunteers did an absolutely amazing job in getting us all fed...

SatyricTim, Good to hear that all is well.

Was sure that all was good, but it is nice when you can get it confirmed.

Looking forward to getting going on Saturday.

Re: Ride Guide

I rang BN during last week querying the Ride Guide and bag tags etc (and then saw that this thread had been updated  ) and was told that all I had to do was turn uop at Lakes Entrance and collect them there. I said I'd misplaced the confirmation letter that I had received and was told that I d...

Re: Is anybody Going to the Great Vic?

I'm going. Though I haven't added my name to the list. :) This time next week I should have my tent set up at Lakes Entrance and be full of nervous energy. Will be heading up on the bus on Friday. Bags are packed, bike serviced and I think that I'm about as ready as I can be at this stage. First tim...
