Re: How was your commute today

Recent job change resulted in what I personally believe to be one of the best work commutes in Melbourne. Downsides (well could also be regarded as a positive) is that it's 30kms in each direction so it's a stretch for me to do it every single day of the week (at the moment). What makes it "bes...

Re: TheAge "How to beat Melbourne's worsening peak hour traffic"

I've got an upcoming change of job location to 22kms from home (!!). I'm ether going to have the hardest legs in the galaxy or I'm going to be stuck in traffic. There is a 3rd way, which is the motorbike. But the list of motorcycles which are considerably cheaper to run than a 'small' car is not ver...

Has anyone ridden a bike along the east coast of Italy from say Pescara right along the coast northwards to as far as Croatia?

Doable on a road bike?

Umm, I would have said yes, but that last bit through You Yangs "Stockyards" area might include a relatively techie switchback climb over granite rocks which might be "harsh" on skinny tyres?

Re: Bicycle Network luring me into another organised ride?

You think that's expensive? How about $3,400 for 8 days in the outback, also a BN ride. Excluding flights, add flights and some pocket money and you are looking at $5K :o :o . I can do two 10 day rides in Europe for that including flights. Sounds like a golfing holiday. Is the accommodation golf co...

Re: Mullum Mullum Creek path new bridges?

Just like the equipment in the original Thunderbirds TV series I like my bikes looking a bit dirty after a ride, to show that we've been through "an experience". :D

I'll be penciling in a ride up there. Finally can do a loop up Darebin creek to the Ring rd & back via Merri creek or Plentry River trails.

I never realized that there were 4x golf courses next to each other there along that bit of the Yarra.

Re: BAD ride - Ballarat Autumn Day Ride

Probably off topic, but there has been lots of talk over the last 5 years that sanctioned organised events & race participation are all falling by the wayside being replaced by an influx of unofficial group rides & social rides. I must admit there certainly is a lot happening in Melbourne &a...

Adults on BMX?

A couple of months ago I scored a 'free' BMX bike from a local who was moving house & couldn't take it with him. It was 1980s Torquer *Qualifier something something, 20inch wheels but a frame sized for an adult. It looked like it suffered a long period of storage with rust, perished grips, jamme...

Re: Kororoit creek - mind the gap.

I've sent an email to Hobsons Bay council requesting them to send a bloke out with his truck to mow the weeds back & throw a few shovel loads of gravel in the to-track pot holes along that 'un-developed' section of trail. Only with non-vehicluar path could a govt body gt away with just not finis...
