Re: How was your commute today

Not today, but 4 weeks ago today, I was riding to work when my left foot came unclipped from the pedal just as I went to bunny hop a slight speed bump. The resulting crash has left me unable to put any weight on my left leg for 12 weeks, so no more commuting by bike this year for me. :(

Re: How was your recreational ride today?

Had the day off work today and needed more coffee beans. Rode to Lilydale via Upper Beaconsfield, Emerald, Avonsleigh, Yellingbo, Seville, and the rail trail. Picked up 2kg of coffee beans and returned home via Maroondah Hwy, Dorset Rd, and the Dandy Creek/Eastlink paths. A very nice ride, with the ...

Re: Closure of Dandenong Creek path near Bayswater

Thanks for the heads up. I was thinking of leading a group down there either this or next week. No very attractive workarounds at that point. As for duration, It says 6 months for a March 17 start. The second notice giving notice of bike closure mentions May15 start and again 6 months duration all ...

Re: EAST GIPPSLAND LEISURE CYCLING CLUB

Hi positivespirit, I know that in Bairnsdale, there is a group called KeenAgers, which meets regularly for table tennis, and other activities. The aim of the group is to help keep older people active and socially engaged. I would suggest contacting them, as they may have contacts with people who are...

Re: Tips Needed

Hi SilverH, actually when I first started riding from my then workplace home to Narre Warren, I used to ride along Dandenong road for a lot of it. It has a lot of service road from Huntindale Road on, which wasn't too bad. The problem for you is that the service road stops just before the Sandown ra...

Re: How was your recreational ride today?

Had an enjoyable ride today, then found out when I got home that it was an expensive one. Went ot get my glasses out, and discovered that my glasses case seems to have self ejected from my jersey pocket somewhere on my 75km loop. Long shot I know but if anyone sees a black glasses case on the route ...

Re: How was your commute today

Much better commute today, didn't intend to throw much effort into it, but got a couple of very well timed lights early on, which kept my average speed high. So it was just too tempting to put in a bit of work to see how fast I could do the commute. Ended up with a PB time to work, even though my to...

Re: How was your commute today

Dcyclist- are they carbon bars? taken a fall at some stage? Aluminium bars, and over the years they have sustained a few falls, none recently though. There was probably some minor damage present from one of the falls, and then time plus continued use have taken their toll. It probably hasn't helped...

Re: How was your commute today

Had an interesting commute this morning, 3km's into the commute, riding up a slight hill and I got a sinking feeling under my left hand. Broken handlebar. What to do, well I turned around, rode home, swapped to my weekend bike, and road shoes, then rode to work, and still managed to get there in tim...

Re: How was your commute today

Had one of those magic commuting days that happen all too rarely. Nearly every light turned green as I got to it, gaps opened in traffic where they don't usually exist, no wind in the morning, and a tailwind home :D :D :D . Must have been Murphy's rostered day off, at least for my commute. Expect th...

Re: How was your recreational ride today?

Had the day off work today so decided to replenish my stock of coffee beans by riding to Lilydale and back. Warm to hot headwind for the trip over. Very hot ride home, ended up drinking my bottles dry 4 times during the ride. Once on the way over, and 3 times on the way back. It was a good ride, but...
