Re: 2018 TdF

At last a stage that had it all. The grid start was a gimmick but the most combative was deserved. Sagan must have been absolutely flying to come off. I could watch Alaphilippe descend all day and would love to see Sagan and him in a descending duel. There are few descenders like Alaphilippe who rea...

Re: Grinding noise after new chain fitted

Good result. Commuter Cycles have recently become my LBS even though it's an 11km ride across town. Very helpful staff ime. My previous LBS which is much closer has sadly gone downhill.

Re: 2018 TdF

He's also unlucky as hell. Some of the freak accidents and incidents he's been involved in, you just wouldn't dream of. He's just too unlucky to win the TdF. That too. Every rider talks about the added stress in the tour and increased nervousness of the peloton. Their senses are on constant alert w...

Re: 2018 TdF

Yeah it could be that Fixie. Froome et al have it. Getting in the zone, having that intense concentration and believing in yourself. But I don't know him personally so it's only conjecture. He is immensely talented but watching him over the years I've never had the strong belief he could do it. He s...

Re: 2018 TdF

Brutal stage. As I wrote on here last year RP is never going to win the tour. Not at all surprised to see him go down. Then watching their plan B TJ slide out on a corner has now relieved him of not having to carry the burden. Fantastic win by Degenkolb.

Re: Idle bike lust thread.

I did too on first glance but the accompanying narrative explains it thus ...." Within the main triangle is the implication of a circle that has to be completed in the mind of the viewer. The other elements are profiles that are part of a pattern or camouflage. These figures are a constellation...

Re: 2018 TdF

Apart from watching the last 20 kms of most stages it's been a bit of a yawn so far. Looking forward to the lumpier stuff tonight and tomorrow. Then stage 9 of course for some cobbled drama and it should get a lot more interesting after that.

Re: road rage nutters

I'm impressed, as road rage goes that was very, very tame, not even a swear word by both parties. Just at the very end she almost went to a naughty word,"....selfish, slight pause, man!"

Too right! With my back and leg problems over the past few years, a ride like today is something to treasure. I'm extremely grateful for every pain free ride these days. I take nothing for granted. ;)

Re: How was your recreational ride today?

Lovely day for a ride in the 'nongs. Minimal wind and sunny. I went out via GCT and Highbury road then took the Dandenong creek path. Haven't been out to the 'nongs since summer when the BOR was very rutted and dusty. Now Pavitt Lane and Sheffield roads are smooth as butter after some rain. The BOR ...

Re: Mullum Mullum Creek path new bridges?

^ This. Bit like sealing roads to attract motorists afraid of gravel. Leave it be, the worst thing would be to seal it so it becomes too popular. I rather like gravel and the squirrelly effect you get when when you're on the edge and the bike is moving around underneath you. ;) So what if there's a ...

Re: Strade Bianche

Not surprised he'd give MSR as miss, but I would have thought PR would be ideal? I suspect he's also the one to watch in the Tour of Flanders. Probably a big ask as his form will surely begin to drop soon after a tough CX season. As for PR, all of Belgium will be waiting to know if he can hold it t...
