Re: Merri Bridge petition

1m isn't too expensive, divided by two councils and with some developer contribution. Ceres should run a fundraiser drive to get some money for the project too! It is not just the roar Dollar figure it is about cost per user, then compare that to other projects. The redevelopment of StGeorges Rd sh...

Re: Strathmore to Boxhill

I hope this isn't to late. If you want to avoid traffic I would head down the Moonee Ponds Creek to Albion St. Then along Albion to the Merri Creek. Head south on the Merri Creek until you hit the Yarra trail in Clifton Hill. Go North East on the Yarra Trail then choose between the Outer Circle Rail...

Re: Merri Bridge petition

I like the idea, however has anyone looked at the contours and the high tension power lines? If the bridge is built at the level of Beavers Rd and Kingfisher Gardens the bridge deck will be way to close to the power cables, also the distance between the roads is 160+ Mts and will cost millions. Alte...

Re: Opportunity to join up Merri Creek Trail, North Fitzroy

@ Wagger It is a very interesting set of problems as there are several converging traffic flows. The proposed path will address the needs of the Merri Creek riders if they heading for the Bridge at the end of Holden St or the capital City Trail. However it will not address the needs of the commuter ...

Goes to show you should not use your Garmin Edge to commute home in the car. LOL

Good photo shop, particularly when you see the bollards at the other end of the bridge

Re: English Road Rage

I have just come back from 4 weeks of riding in England in cities, villages and countryside. Only 1 abusive driver in 600Km, however the big difference was huge amounts of tolerance and respect. I believe the difference is people grow up in England using a bike as transport not just a toy. With fuel...

Re: Reducing to 40km/h

The residents of the Summers Estate in Northcote requested Vicroads to set a 40 Kph speed limit for the estate. Last year Vicroads changed the speed limit, so it can be done. Personally I thing the neighbourhood speed limit should be 40kph 24/7 as it will be better for all concerned with more commun...

Re: North Eastern Bicycle Corridor (Yarra Trail)

Well the East West Tunnel has gone, at least for 4 years, however the plight of cyclists Up stream of Dights Fall on the Yarra Trail has not improved. The North East Bicycle Corridor is still a great project that will benefit many commuter and recreational cyclist in Melbourne's north east. We still...

Re: Speeding cyclists on shared paths

In the partial defence of the cyclists on Gardiners and Koonung; The situation is equivalent to having the Eastern Freeway built like the Black Spur. Despite being the most practical transport route for many, the infrastructure is narrow, has built in blind corners and is ill suited for the traffic...

Re: Speeding cyclists on shared paths

I have observed that riding counter commuter along the Gardiners Creek, Yarra and Koonung Creek Shared trails is very dangerous. In fact I commute 20K, 80% on road because it is safer, cars rarely cut blind corners at speed as I experienced multiple times on the Gardiners and Koonung. Certainly it i...

Re: Doored with no Police Charge

Firstly I hope your recovery is complete. When this happened to my wife with no action by the desk officer, I sent a letter addressed to the Senior Sergeant in the form of a complaint. He passed the letter to the Sergeant who pushed it thought to the court. Did the driver report the accident, as fai...
