Re: Melbourne lockdown

At 06:45 this morning there were already more cyclists riding towards Olinda than I have seen in the last 3 months!

Sorry, don't think that is good enough.
Should be at least all of Metropolitan Melbourne.
I'm sick of just riding in the Dandenongs. I want some flat roads and want to ride to St. Kilda.

Matt1 wrote:^ Is that filtered or fitted? Not too sure that would pass muster. I did enjoy image searching "fitted curve buff" though :D

Fitted, approved by the DHHS as requested by the construction union. Popular with construction workers.

Re: Melbourne lockdown

No more Buff wearing unfortunately: https://www.abc.net.au/news/2020-10-12/victoria-coronavirus-face-mask-rule-changes-explained/12752128 I normally carry / wear a fitted gaiter or buff, which is allowed. Well that is what the DHHS web site says. https://www.dhhs.vic.gov.au/face-masks-vic-covid-19#...

Re: How was your recreational ride today?

I was cleaning out the garage so had to shift a couple of bikes. Dusted this beauty off for a little spin around Coburg Lake :D https://scontent.fmel5-1.fna.fbcdn.net/v/t1.0-9/120235767_10158820149009826_5497693333750662479_n.jpg?_nc_cat=105&_nc_sid=8bfeb9&_nc_ohc=X3r9U24xhwUAX-9wJ2D&_n...

Re: Great Victorian Bike Ride 2019

Not surprised. No ATB and no GVBR will make a very large hole in BV's bottom line for 2020-2021 Mike I don't know about the ATB, but BV has published figures for the GVBR in recent years and they don't make a lot of money on it. If the number of participants are below I think 3,000, it actually mak...

Re: Melbourne lockdown

I'd rather use the 1 hour to be riding every last minute of it, rather than wasting it on getting a coffee. It does help, having a decent machine at home - but even that broke down last week  and I'm waiting for a part to fix it (giving it a crack fixing it myself). Long live the Nanopress in ...

Re: Melbourne lockdown

We are lucky to live close enough to do the following rides: the Wall, Monbulk - Olinda (note: I don't think I can go all the way to Monbulk, but it is our closest Woolies so I can go shopping?) 1 in 20, Perrins Creek Rd. Sassafras Creek Rd / the Crescent, the Tourist Rd, Montrose to Ferny Creek. Al...

Re: Melbourne lockdown

Try this mapping feature to work out 5 km radius from home...we may all need it soon  https://www.mapdevelopers.com/draw-circle-tool.php It’s best on a desk top or iPad not phone. Fill in address and 5km then click “new circle” Also click “border only“ box top right. I can still do the 1 in 2...

Re: Great Victorian Bike Ride 2019

What are they proposing to charge for The Little Vic? Mike The link to the flyer is: https://cdn-au.mailsnd.com/43483/V9jw9gg-vCd_Uab_aPZY2MdsDYb5bUByB_sd8mq1nfg/3293790.pdf It is expensive in my opinion. $2200 for 6 days, 5 nights and 4 days of riding. It includes all transfers and accommodation i...

Re: Great Victorian Bike Ride 2019

I doubt this year's ride will go ahead, even if the current restrictions are relaxed. Having 4,000 people close together, using the same amenities and sweating all over each other doesn't seem like a good idea. And a month later not much has changed. Now what about the Around the Bay. Some of those...

Re: Melbourne lockdown

From the Q&A on The Age: So no driving to go for a bike ride. It's arguable that you could drive, for example, to the nearest MTB trails if you intend riding MTB. The nuances are almost impossible to define or understand. No, not arguable. If you can ride your MTB locally to exercise , then you...
