Re: City to Sunshine

If you don't mind going a bit out of the way, there's an excellent off road bike path from Middle Footscray station all the way to Sunshine station. I would not recommend Somerville rd after Williamstown Rd. Thanks - i've got a strava heat map which actually diverts me down to the Fed Trail from So...

Re: Route help - North Sunshine to the punt

Yes, I really enjoy the Maribyrnong River Trail, particularly once you get out past Canning Reserve and cycle it regularly. A couple of things to note. It isn't very direct, so just enjoy the extra kilometers. There are a couple of pretty reasonable climbs which do reward you with a great view of th...

Re: Quiet Sunday ride

You're going the wrong way ;) https://forums.bicyclenetwork.com.au/viewtopic.php?f=16&t=26694 Four hours to get to the top of Warrenheip from Bacchus Marsh. An hour and twenty for the return journey. The ride out is mostly the ride Tim gave me to get up to Ballarat the day before 'the classic' ...

Quiet Sunday ride

Looking like nice weather for a ride this long weekend. Am thinking of jumping the Vline up to Bacchus Marsh and exploring some of the roads from the Ballarat to Melbourne Classic of years gone by. Rough plan as it currently stands involves catching the 8.23 from Footscray, jumping out at Bacchus Ma...

Re: Off in the US somewhere

Not sure of your sleeping plans around Safford AZ, but 5 miles south of the town is Roper Lake State Park. It isn't a free camp unfortunately and due to the lake had mosquitoes after dark, but the lake is nice for a swim and there is a natural spring fed hot tub to soak in which is great to sooth t...

Re: Off in the US somewhere

Have now made it as far as Apache Junction on the far East side of Phoenix. A bit of a detour up the Apache Trail tomorrow, should be fun. Have had a couple of really tough days on the bike. Yesterday was a super big push from Quartzsite, out on the California border into Glendale. It rained all day...

Re: Off in the US somewhere

Quartzsite Arizona. Not my first choice for a rest day. I am happy that their 127 day streak of 100 + degree days came to an end today but the crazy humidity as hurricane Rosa closes in doesn't really make things much better. Hoping for better weather tomorrow. Day two and three were just awesome an...

Off in the US somewhere

Second day of cycling along the Southern Tier about to start. Day one was super hard and I had a few things go wrong, including getting horribly lost trying to get out of San Diego but all finished really well out on the Mexican border now at a tiny town called Jacumba and ready to hit the desert. S...

perfect weather for a long commute ... no wind, clear skies, nice fresh air along the river - so some extra single track ks. beautiful. :D :D I did the same last night and again this morning. Re: Moonee Ponds Creek Trail unscheduled closure

I ride this one a couple of times a week. I just stick to the footpath for the 50 odd metres the detour is on Pascoe Vale Rd. I know it is not yet legal in this state but better than being dead.
