Re: Phone cameras

Good! <Insert grumpy cat meme> I see it every day. Too many people that can't stay in their lane or completely miss when the light goes green. To think we share the roads with these inattentive people.... We all know it's wrong, but there is such a small chance of getting caught that people don't ca...

Re: Why are the Forums slowing down?

I think this is as great a place as any..... Lately when I look to the forums for some discussion, or even a tale of the daily commute; the dwindling contributions have repeatedly left me disappointed. I guess after so many years the same discussions have been taken to conclusion, all the advice has...

Re: How was your commute today

Nice ride in.
Got to the first intersection and discovered that I forgot about putting in new pads.... Thankfully I'd pumped them up, but hadn't bedded them in so while I could still stop, it just wasn't as fast as I was expecting.

Re: How was your commute today

Lungs feel awesome today! Pushed as I wanted on the hills and didn't even start to run out of breath. Got overtaken by a home made e-bike on the way in. I'm not sure how it was controlled, but there was a lot of surging. Power, coast.... Power, coast.... I backed off so I could maintain a constant s...

Seriously... with the frequency at which you break bikes, you should always be packing an entire toolkit... or maybe a support vehicle

Re: How was your commute today

^^^ I have the same light! Goes alright! Early start today so I can do some last minute shopping. Seems to be that the red lights are optional before 7  18 sets of lights and 5 red light runners, 2 of would have clipped me if I didn't look before going. Other than that it is a beautiful mornin...

Re: How was your commute today

.... why wouldn't you just use the limit screws to fix the position? Depends if you have the tools available and/or know how to use them. Some people don't like adjusting such limits for fear of dropping the chain and even get bike shops to adjust for cable stretch. My excuse is I was unprepared (n...

Re: How was your commute today

Snapped the front derailleur cable on Friday evening's ride home. Forgot to repair it over the weekend (it's an annoying, fiddly job). Felt like a cartoon character, spinning the pedals for little result. "Operate" by hand and wedge a pen/bit of wood/rock into the mech to hold it in place...

Re: How was your commute today

Decided to take it easy this morning, and as fate would have it it'd be slower than planned. To those that offered assistance while I was changing the flat thank-you, I was genuinely surprised that people were offering. (but I was well prepared) To the lady getting agro at the tradie that stopped in...

Re: How was your commute today

Have had a surfeit of punishment passes this week (and it's only Wednesday morning) - did I miss an anti-cycling story in the Feral Hun (or, sadly increasingly, The Age)? I haven't noticed any extra issues with the cars, but I have noticed an increase in stupid and aggressive moves from other rider...

But what would Johnny Cash say.... https://www.theage.com.au/world/north-america/airline-sorry-after-gate-agent-allegedly-mocks-5-year-old-named-abcde-20181130-p50jab.html So a mother is now regretting giving the kid a ridiculous name in a vein attempt to be different? I feel sorry for all the kids...

Re: How was your commute today

Lots of fair weather riders out this morning and absolute confusion at the bottom of St G's road made for a slow but steady ride in. My end of ride facilities dry up at the end of the week. It's looking like I'm going to have to train, keep baby wipes at my desk or, "shock horror!", ride s...
